I've wanted to do something for so long... and I've spoken to a lot of you about my idea but now, I can officially announce it.
On August 13th, 2006... I'm holding an event.
"Dance to the Beat" (to defeat cancer)
It's a Sunday night and I haven't been able to announce it on here because, well, the venue wasn't confirmed... well, now it official..
FOOTWORK NIGHTCLUB!
This event is for two purposes...
One. To raise money for cancer research. I don't know a person who isn't an arm length away from someone who has, had and or lost the fight to this disease. I, for one am living with a mother who is terminally ill and will eventually lose a battle. I have had a brother who won his battle and I myself have had the displeasure of having two tumours removed... and I'm 23 years old. Instead of sitting back and complaining how the world isn't fair, I decided to do something about it...
I took my love for music, a love that I share with every person that is registered on this site... and decided to run an event where all proceeds, every last dollar will be donated to the Princess Margaret Hospital.
Now, I want people to have fun. This isn't going to be an event where we're going to drain your pockets... 20 in advance, 25 at the door... we will also be selling some exclusive ONE NIGHT ONLY sets by some DJ's and some other products... mind you, all the revenue will be donated. .. we have some surprises in store, I really want this night to be memorable, not only for me.. but for you guys.
There has been so many people backing this idea, the support you guys have given truly has been amazing... I mean, I don't think I'd be able to get where I am at with this event without you guys. I thank you for listening, for suggesting... for volunteering... it really is amazing.
I ask you guys to spread the word, invite the masses.. I'm tired of people thinking our generation does nothing for anybody but ourselves. I'm tired of this disease invading all our lives and taking years away from the ones we love. If we don't do anything, who will?
We have some DJ's confirmed for this event... I'd like to thank EVERYONE involved in this.. The DJs playing are donating their time, their salaries to the cause. They have been morally supportive about the event and have helped me with so much along the way.

DJ Nathan Barato!
You've seen him rock everything from your shorts to the zone... but on August 13th 2006, he will be rocking Footwork making you all... (get ready for horrid cliche!) Dance to the Beat.... Nathan's help for this event has been tremendous, he was the first DJ officially booked for this event and has really been a silent partner in making this happen. Thank you Nathan and I can't wait for you to ROCK IT on the 13th.

I met Jay a few years back ago at pulse and I've been lucky enough to see him raise right up the ranks, a killer peformance at zone that has zoners waiting for the day he returns,...not to mention him creaming competition in the FILM DJ battle back last year. I'm excited that Jay is a part of this!
The third DJ...
DJ Retrobyte from Michigan. My personal prediction for a guy who will ROCK the industry for years to come. Canada will have it's first dose of the Ann Arbour native who's productions are being pimped out by a little known duo that goes under Gabriel and Dresden.... WHAT!!! not to mention Sander Kleinenberg... This kid is going to be something special.. I'm a big fan of his already and can't wait for Toronto to hear his . When he drops his production "Going Down!!" I promise you all, you will be bouncing!
There are several DJ's I'm still speaking to about the event... but as it stands this looks to be something memorable.

Woo Dave, I've told you many times, and will say it again... I'm so glad you're doing this, I think it's SUCH great idea.. My ass is definitely there, you know it will be (as long as I'm not in Montreal that day, I'm prolly leaving on the 15th ..)
I know i didn't do anything with the preparations and organization of this event, I didn't know it was happening until last week when you told me, but I'm definitely gonna help out with bringing people out... ;)
I can't wait for this to happen already, and if you need any any help with any anything... let me know what I can do, and you got it ;)

I am so gald it has all come together Dave. You have worked so hard on this.
and it's even more amazing that it is on my daddy's b day...not that he ever had cancer but not to long ago I was so scared of losing him when he had heart surgury 4 yrs ago. I will do my best to be there :) |

I'm not sure if I'll be able to make this event b/c I am going to be in summer school and that is right near the end of my class.
But congrats on making this event happen and good luck to you on the fundraiser. I'm sure you'll raise a lot of money!
