Was just thinking about this before, and seriously Australia had it covered when it came to Prog breaks a few years ago.
Other than BT & Hybrid, the genre was pretty much covered by...
Hi-Fi Bugs
Lo Step
Chable
Vance Musgrove
Mortar & Pestle
Nubreed
Andy Page
Halogen & Nash-T
Scrambler
Respect!
Ok, back to work for me now :haha: |

| Don't forget Jono, and Infusion have released some breaksy stuff as well. It's a shame I never really liked prog-breaks, cos I think we were definitely in the right city for it... |

Wasn't sure whether to include Infusion but yeah forgot about Jono :(
I was just thinking back to Sideways at Tilt which we ran throughout 2004 and all the massive PB tunes that were around at the time before. Definately a great time to be in Melburn :) |

Too bad breaks are , eh ?
Breakbeat / fractured / broken / random beats are NOT progressive. Thank
god all this is pretty much over now. Even Quinny has seen the light and gone back to playing the great 4/4 progressive, that he's known for.
Chable, Phil K, NuBredd, etc .......... meh. |

I heard Sean Quinns JJJ mix up on the weekend and it wasn't progressive at all... too much electro for me.
I think it was Nubreed that brought on my love for this sound. They were a whole new genre for me, best performances ever. I also enjoyed Keltec and Dan Mangan at Broken Home quite a few times :)
I was talking to a breaks DJ about this on the weekend. I wish this sound hadnt of died and yes, it was the MELBOURNE sound.
Jono has some new releases coming out with Meat Katie and remixes for Aquasky and Peace Division. If you want to sample check out his my space page www.myspace.com/jonofernandez |

I think if you spoke to Sean you might find it's got nothing at all to do with "seeing the light", but rather the fact that there really isn't anyone writing music like that anymore :)
I won't even bother commenting on the rest of your post ;) |
