Creator pulled off a mental 6 hour set, with non-stop dancefloor shaker and face lifter after another.
Sound..
He opened with possibly one of the darkest tracks I've heard. As a dj I am stunned about his tracks, I'd be surprised if they came from this planet lol. Those tracks that have; a little vocal that echos throughout the mix, escalating pitchs for buzzing sounds, rhythmatical bleeps, a vocal scream before the drop, the percussion rhythms that are slowly filtered into the mix, distorted atmospheric pads, and last but not least filthy basslines.
Vibe..
You know the vibes great when everyone's having a good time dancing and the dj is partying!!!
Branding..
This night stands out most out of all resident nights because of the branding, and it works. You know its a ravemontreal night when the floor is packed, when there're heaps of people dancing with ravemontreal t-shirts and when the ratio of chicks:dicks is more or less 1:1... Heh, my only suggestion is to hire a VJ to add some eye spice into the blend.
If you'd ask me, the spirit of aria is becoming stronger.
Could hardly wait to get the recorded set!

So I get to Aria at 3am-ish and Vega was pumping some nice beats. The dancefloor was nicely filled too. Creator came on at around 4am. I have NEVER heard anything like the intro I heard early this morning. The darkness and depth of that track was totally insane and the vibe continued that way for 6 hrs. I love that he told me that he was gonna start off soft about 20 mins before he got on lol. As soon as the crowd saw that he was taking over, applause and encouragement for this remarkable DJ began. The dancefloor became a place to let loose, to experience magnificent sound. I spent most of my time on that dancefloor with a HUGE smile plastered on my face. Otherwise, I was checking out his skills and watching the crowd go nuts. I am so appreciative of having the luxury and sheer pleasure to experience Creator's music. Truly, he is my favourite Aria resident and MTL DJ for so many reasons. His passion for his craft is SO present and he displays it in a way that I have NEVER seen any other DJ do so before. Unbelievable really...:)
So, Martin, once again I say thank you so much for everything, from your mind blowing 6 hour set to your kindness and passion for this scene and the music. Can't wait to see you next Saturday :) |

It was an amazing night and I'm just sad/pissed that I had to leave around 8 because I was getting so exhausted....If i had stayed I would of passed out in the VIP room for sure :haha:
Music::
Creator is Aria's best resident and these nights of his are only going to keep gaining momentum and keep growing stronger. It's always great to see a DJ loving what he's doing and also doing something that sets him apart from the rest, trying to reach that point of originalitly and unique style that is only his and no-one elses. For this reason I believe Creator will make a difference for the Montreal EDM Scene, and if he keeps going like this he can make a difference in the bigger picture as well :)
The music was DARK,LOUD,ENCOMPASSING and OVERPOWERING through-out and once you find yourself dancing to it or just listening from the sidellines you can't help but think: "This is it, you don't need anything else but THIS'!
Congratulations Martin on another superb job! We're all dying to hear the recorded set!!
People::
Cheers to Stereohead, nebu, moevalith and Jeff [his first time at Aria and the only other afterhour he went to was Redlite....at a certain Creatored moment on the dancefloor he goes to me: "Dude!!!! Redlite aint got !!!" :stongue:
Im also very happy with the amount of people that came this night, and the Conduct night for that matter...a resident weekend at Aria and both nights looked like a success from what i could tell, it was enough for any one of those 'haters' or people who've lost faith or believe that Aria's nights have amounted to less than 10 people on the dancefloor to rethink what they said and maybe start showing their support for an afterhour that is very much alive!

First, big thanks to everyone that came out in the rain. Despite heavy showers, the place was filled nicely, which only tells me that it would have been insane with a nice weather, cause most don't want to wait outside in those conditions.
Let me tell you I had a lot of fun, a LOT! Even more than the first time, since I was more prepared. Those long sets are a mental and physical challenge, but I enjoyed it even more, and every second of it. (Thank god for inventing Guru, but I think I will vomit if I see another can in the next days lol)
I could go on and on about how the night went for me, but basically, it's about the people. And I am fortunate to play in front of such a wonderful crowd, so generous of their energy, you give me so much back in return. I just love those 6 hours set when you reach a level of mutual understanding. I am a very lucky DJ.
Really glad to have seen Stereohead (love the new haircut), Moevalith, Mitsutranza... and your reviews really touched me.
What a great night, again.
The bad news now: Believe me, I am so angry about this, but the set wasn't recorded.. again! sh*! I would have love to put this one on the web. I was really bummed out. I tested it in the day and was working fine, but it stalled again while recording live. Next time I know what to do, i'll go with a digital recorder, cause I think all the sound in the booth is making it skip. |

| Nice reviews! How you described the music is interesting. Hummm looks like I might have something to look forward too once I can go back to Aria. |

This was the event of the weekend for sure.
All I can say is if you spoke to me on the dance floor during this event- it is highly unlikely I registered what you said. It was like my body was on Auto Pilot....
I was on Planet Creator. :tongue3
Really I found the music well layered with many elements of high frequency surprises that seem to lift your limbs as though they were air pressurized.
The crowd wall also very polite and you could tell there was true support for the music there that night. Nice to experience.
Whoa Creator- those Guru really hit the spot, or perhaps it was just passion, but your energy was really great to see up there behind the decks. Can't wait till you next set! |

Well it's not really the Guru (even if it does help) but the crowd. I feed a LOT from your energy, and you were all extremely generous. ;-)
The people that night really made the experience much better.
Hopefully, the word will catch on that the crowd is unique on those nights, and people will come to party among each others again.
It was never about the dj, it's about the people. |
