It's like the scam scholarship things, where you have to pay them a fee for [insert bull here] before you can get the scholarship.

I had to pay $75 to get into grad school :( im being scammed!

unfortunately i once got suckered into going to a vector steak knife interview. they had disguised the ad in the paper to trick ppl to applying. what ever you dont work for them. awful job

things i've observed

-they sent me mail (back in high school) i think asking me to work
-when i was looking for a job this summer, the ad for vector did not give a specific job description
-they called only a couple hours after my online application and i went in for an interview that day
-the interview process was a bit strange...
-it was only until we got there was when we found out we were selling knives
-on the 1st or 2nd day of training we were told we had to purchae the knive set to demonstrate (we can get our $ back though)
-sometimes there were discrepencies on what we were supposed to do
-the trainer was nice but he kept on telling us to be confident and be fired up and hyping us up...most likely scripted
-we had to make 6 appointments minimum between saturday to sunday
-i felt extremely pressured (mainly because the manager kept on telling us how much some kids sold in their office)
-half of the people showed up on advanced training
-on the first day (interview) and the 3rd day of training, i knew i sould have never shown up again. so i will be quitting this week

i read on a petition about a girl who was told not to give a job description on the phone, so now i am planning to call up another vector office and ask them to tell me about the job and see if the person will tell me.

well it's good to hear you are not staying with it - especially if it doesn't seem like something for you. some people can BS w/ the business....others [and prolly most of the population] don't.

i went to an informational meeting and when they said what the product was they were selling [knives], i walked out.

other companies like this include Amway & Quixtar [pyramid schemes]

better sooner than later we all make our mistakes. one thing that pretty much holds true is if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is. And trust your instincts. If something seems shady or not right then listen to your heart and walk away.

Vector is bull, they basically shift all of the risk and expense to you. Your responsible for building a customer list starting from friends and family. Nothing like taking advantage of your love ones. You only get paid for the number of appointments you make. You drive your own car, pay for your gas, and aren't paid for the time it takes to drive to each appointment and the time it takes call all these ppl and come up with new customers. Vector sits back and collects the commisions from your sales. The ppl who are targeted are old lonely ppl who don't need over priced steak knifes.

But what can you expect from a company who won't tell you what the job is until you go to the interview?
