With the exception of burned with desire and so serene :nervous: man looks like we got ed at the white party, what a dissapointment :haha: |
some other tracks he played in LA:
Alex M.O.R.P.H. & Rank 1 - Life Less Ordinary
Racoon - Love You More (Armin van Buuren Remix)
Armin van Buuren - Control Freak
Armin van Buuren - Shivers
Ferry Corsten - Beautiful
Filo & Peri Feat. Fisher - Ordinary Moment (B & B Mix)
S.O. Project - Direct Dizko (Sander van Doorn remix)
considering he only played for 2 hrs, i think that was the best TL i've heard. and you can't really compare a 2 hr set to a 4+ hr set. |

Armin’s set was soooooo NASTY!
All the previous comments are right on target. I can’t believe he played a 4.5 hour set! After his crazy traveling back and forth across the U.S., he was soooooo much more into his Ruby Skye set than LA. There were such good vibes all night long in the club. Everyone was happy, including Armin, he was smiling the entire set :D
I’ve been partying all weekend since Thursday, was at the White Party on Saturday from 10:30pm-9:30am, then had a looong day of work on Monday, I was hella tired but AVB brought INCREDIBLE energy Monday night. We stayed until 5:00am, gave Syd his props and bounced.
I’m still replaying Burned with Desire in my head. Fu**ing amazing.

i have some decent pics and a video of Dogzilla - Without You from Armin's night but I was soooo exhausted from this weekend that I overslept today and didn't get into work until 1pm :wtf: needless to say i worked really late to make up for it and now im going to pass out...so ill resize my weekend pics tomorrow (hopefully)
davet: im jealous you had such a good view of the fireworks...we actually didn't physically go to the Marina but isa and i have a friend that lives relatively close and has roof access and so we watched them from up there -- it was really nice but cold as ! pics later, sleep now! :) |

oh man... this is by far the BEST Armin's set I've ever seen from him in SF... Armin totally owned the place and blew the roof off...
sorry Rich, maybe one has too much too drink I guess... :disbelief

I would have to agree with pretty much everything that's been said about that night. I went in not expecting much, but this turned out to be a very memorable show.
The first hour was basically CD1 of ASOT 2006 and the second was pretty much CD2. But he went on for 2.5 more hours! And that's when he was at his best, pulling out great new tracks and old ones (with the exception of that string of SvD productions of course :() while keeping the energy really high--no room for boredom in that set.
I was told that he would play for about 3 hours, so just before that mark, I asked him about playing my tune of 2006 for the encore. He looked at me and shrugged/nodded in a way that meant "uh sure, maybe," so I added a "pleaaaaase" :D
An hour and a half later, he stops the last track of his mix and the crowd asks for one more. He slams PLAY and out comes Arisen :disbelief I immediately yell thank you at him (he responds with a grin), and jump onto the dancefloor after the intro is over to be part of the crowd going nuts. I return backstage for the outro, and since Armin has left the decks with people following him, I briefly end up alone in the middle of the stage in front of the crowd  (Hopefully there is no video of that :nervous: )
This was at least my fifth time seeing Armin live in the last 2 years and, personal nostalgia for 2005 October 8 aside, it was by far his best performance; the complete opposite of WMC 2006 at Space. I have never seen him enjoying himself so much, being so gracious with fans (signing, posing, and talking non-stop), and having so much musical inspiration (you could see just how focused he was when going through his CD wallet to select tracks). And coming from such a critic and cynic as myself, this is saying a lot!
I think that, like Tiësto, Armin needs more than 3 hours to be really good. With only 2 hours, forget it...
For sure a night I'm not about to forget; totally worth a second trip to SF in 48 hours  Many thanks to RobertN, Bob M, and the Spundae and Skills crew for making it all possible ;)
And I still haven't met any of the SFTAs :wtf: |
