I hope this is the right forum.. I've been working with this track for about a week now, counting all primitive ideas and transformations. I just started wondering, cause it sound familiar somehow, is the melody really mine or is my mind just playing with me and telling me to rewrite someone else's melody? :conf: I wanna be sure it doesn't sound like something else already out there (considering only the melody, sound design and arrangement clicés are not the point here.. :D )

So here's the clip:

Mikk - Arching Waves

Other comments are welcome too of course, but the melody is my main concern. :) Oh, I will probably get rid of the breakbeat part..

It's pretty much standard trance so no wonder it sounds familiar. however it does sound well :) I wouldn't worry about it too much if I were you.
Mikk
Ok thanks Storyteller :) Yeah well it probably sounds a little like a lot of trance tunes :p I think I'll finish it with this melody then.. At the end of this clip when the main part goes around second time I'll add some simple melody with piano or other acoustic instument..or some raw gliding pad sidechain pumped by the bassdrum :)
Synchronicity
Yeah the melodies ok, but there's something not right about the 303 type sound just before the four to the floor beat kicks in. It sounds a bit weird because it's pitched down:)
Eldritch
The chord progression sounds a bit like Delerium - Silence.
I don't think you need to worry though, alot of released tracks sound alike.

Listen to this sample of...
Cygnus X - Superstring, Kyoto - 4 Love and Madonna - What It Feels Like For A Girl (Above & Beyond Remix)

They all kind of sound alike, but they're still different.
Subtle
well produced but.. boring melody.. i wish i could say it sounds like something i know.. but when something is used enough, no one is in the position to claim it.

That's happened to me quite alot actually. Most likely you've just become very 'intimate' with your melody after hearing it so many times, and now you have the impression that you've heard it before (because you have!)

nice track! :) . something i'd buy to chill to...

The chord progression with that plucked sound sounds very familiar, but I can't quite nail the song (maybe Ayla??). Anyways, it's different enough from the track I'm thinking about to pass as an original :)

Aalto - Rush (Super8 vs. Orkidea Remix)... that's the one :p

djAlexg
standart anjunabeats imo
optik
it is a bit alto rush-ey - but not enough for a standard club punter to notice, and I've allways had my doubts if you can legitimatley copyright arpegiated chords..

it doesn't sound enough like rush to be a problem imho
