Could Paul Oakenfold mix flawlessly if he wanted to?

MR STROKE
I have seen Oakenfold countless times and he has been a horrid mixer everytime I have seen him, and I have heard many others say the same thing... But I know he has put out coutless cd mixes and essential mixes that sound flawless, so can Oakenfold who has been Djing for years mix perfect if he wanted to?is he being lazy? or can he just not mix?

It is a mystery which boggles the mind... :wtf:

None of his Essential Mixes are 'flawless' though. He has always been a terrible DJ. It's the same with Tiesto.

I don't know why people only seem to think these two have become in recent years. Probably because they don't have as good a playlist to hide behind anymore could be one reason.

I dunno, I've heard some older Oakey mixes which arent nearly as bad as his recent sets. Saw him at Coachella festival here in April where he could not complete one, solid, clean transition in an hour and a half...

+1 This is absolutely true.

WHat has changed throughout the years is the standard which the average listener holds towards DJ's.

I still like oakenfold and it's for his tracklists mixes rather than for his "mixing"

It depends if he's coked out or not. Cokie Oakie, y'know? :wtf:

Its got all to do with coke.

Put simply he is going deaf.

Transitions, in general, are easy. Anyone can do it well if they wanted to.

From what I've heard of his CD compilations, he mixes the very last four bars of each track into the first four of the next one. If you consider that mixing flawlessly, then my dog could probably manage it if he wanted.

I'de say he could, but he is just old and a druggie like people are saying and doesn't care anymore. Kind of like some athletes before they retire, they don't put effort in anymore because they were already #1 or well established as being famous that they think people will like them no matter what. I think it's a name thing. I think the same could be said about politicans. So I'de say, Oakie's days are numbered as a DJ, probably in another few years. I've heard some of his latest album and it's a little better than Bunkka but I doubt he produced a lot of it his self. He hasn't released a mixed CD in two years though...

Haha, yeah, or just drunk out of his mind...

I think he's gone deaf.
