Hey guys... switching to digital pretty soon and am looking at an effects unit to add somehting to my sets... Ive been offered a second hand pioneer efx 500 for $350 australian, but want to hear from some ppl in the know what is a good buy
just looking for prices, and what the units can do.. i saw a sample of the 500 and saw that you can just loop, chuck in a few effects for the loops, not much else..
any help would be great cus its really hard to find someone in the know over here in adelaide |

check out a Zabiela video, that'll show you whats capable with an EFX:p
I'm curious about this too, I ponder about EFXs every now and again keep wondering just how useful it would be for me.
Just the effects would be useful by itself though, plus you have the looping ability. I'm sure when you get it you'd be able to work it out;)
You say "just loop and chuck in a few effects", just curious what else do you expect it to do? |

yeh.. i had one a while back with an efc 1000 that i cant find... seen some others of him showing off the new pio gear, and its just him on stage.. infront of aliens and othr weird doing his stuff lol
saw paolo mojo hear a few months back with this little thing that looked like a remote.. had pvd im pretty written on it, no idea what it was doin.. looked cool though lol |

It really depends on what kind of music you play. That techy kinda stuff the Zabiela plays is very "effectable". For house/trance, overuse of effects is just annoying. I have a Kaoss Pad 2, and it's fun to play around with, but I certainly wouldn't miss it a whole lot. When I do use it in my sets I keep it very subtle.
