You, as a child

What kind of child were you?

As for me,

  • I was a very nerdy kid (surprising, heh?): I was very much interested in Buddhist Philosophy and German language, I used to watch documentaries and the news (reason why my grandmother hated babysitting me), I used to have an atlas with me around the house, I would memorise car brands, watch "underground" TV shows (as those strange "Winter Olympics" thing broadcasted in Brazil), and I've been into electronic music since I was 8 y.o. or something;

  • I'd always ask "why", and wouldn't mind inquirying an adult about a specific subject until they gave me a satisfying answer (which eventually led to me being thrown out of a Catholic school and joining military school in order to have more discipline :D);

  • I used to be into blondes, redheads and narrow-eyed brunettes;

  • I wasn't shy at all, although I miserably failed at humour back in that time :toothless

Somehow, after changing a lot during my teens (i.e. I don't defy others that frequently anymore), I now feel closer to the person I was before I turned 10 y.o. :p

What about you?
d-miurge
I was a nerd pimp:

  • I was a pimp, with at least 6 ties or bow ties, my "gang" of buddies who fight for me in the playground.

  • I was a smart nerd too, I used to know all the capitals in the world at the age of 5, and able to say the populations of the 25 first cities in France. :p

  • I was mystic, I became catholic (my choice) at 8, disavow the religion at 9.

  • I was the funny kid of my neighborhood and family without knowing it sometimes, for example I told to everybody that I would like to be a fireman-clown like in Dumbo or president.

edit: How come your relationship with Catholicism was that quick? You've been a Catholic for just one year, right? :p

I'm not sure what frightens me more.

  • That d-miurge was a pimp?
  • or that he's adopted Lira's penchant for using "[list]"

Well this might come as a surprise to most of you, but I was really obnoxious as a child. Hahaha

No but in all honesty, according to my mother I was extremely smart and very well spoken by the age of 2. She said people would look at me in the grocery store and listen to me babbling (and using big words for my age) and see how tiny I was and be like, “umm, how old is she??” I was extremely strong willed and stubborn. I mean, there was seriously no telling me what to do, I pretty much had my own agenda and if you tried to stop me, I was PISSEd. If you told me “no” I threw a fit...serious temper tantrums like banging my head on the floor or something.

One of my mom’s favorite stories to tell was one time in the grocery store, I was 3 and my shoe lace was untied and my mom told me to tie it (yes i could tie my own shoes at age 3), so I kneeled down and started doing it, but I hadn’t quite mastered it yet so I was taking a long time, and my mom got impatient with me and leaned down to help me and I threw a fit because I wanted to do it myself. It got so out of hand that she had to carry me to the car (once she finally was able to pick me up because I used to do that thing where I would put my arms straight in the air so she had a hard time picking me up) and let me have it out where I kicked the windows and screamed for about 10 minutes.

Another classic story....

She also took me to the pool for the very first time when I was 2 and said that I was watching all the other big kids run and jump in the pool, so I just started running towards the pool to jump in before she could put my floaties on and she had to like grab me. I couldn’t even swim but she said I just had that attitude like, “well if they can do it, I can do it”. Needless tos ay, I was jumping off the diving boards from the deep end of the pool by the age of 3. :p

“Precocious” is the word my mom uses to describe me. And even though I was very demanding and hard headed, she says I had my moments of cuteness too, but I was certainly a handful, that’s for sure.

Oh yea, and obviously I was a big attention whore.:stongue: That's my mom's fault though because she seriously gave me way too much attention all the time (because I practically demanded it), so it became a necessity for me and still is, but only in my reltaionships.

I just need lots of love and affection from whomever I'm with. LOTS of it:tongue2

Very smart with a vivid imagination.

Was the first 6 year old to take books out from the older section of my primary school's library.

Wrote and illustrated a book at 9 (The Adventures of Gobby the Goblin) which, sadly, no longer exists.

Spent alot of time playing with lego or on our ZX Spectrum.

As I started to get older, my lack of interest in sport lead to a bit of a segregation from most of the boys, only the quirkier 'outsiders' were really my friends, so this led to me getting bullied a fair bit.

I did however become very relaxed with girls and started to get more and more friends of the opposite sex, which pissed the bullies off even more and I became good friends with all their girlfriends, which then made me untouchable :haha:

I was pretty at sports, but could run very fast, and started getting into MAD Magazine, and later The Simpson, and those 2 things pretty much singlehandedly sculpted my sense of humour. :)

I used to do alot of solo imaginary fights against baddies, with laser guns or power moves like in streetfighter or megaman.

I spent alot of time over the road trying to get it on with the neighbour's daughter, who I eventually started snogging and dry humping until my brother turned 16 and became the object of her desire.

Started playing rpgs at 11, Shadowrun and Dungeons and Dragons.

Was ugly and had little self-esteem.

Had anger-management issues and used to throw tantrums.

Man how I changed in highschool! :D

oh yea u just reminded me. i was also into writing short stories when i was in like 4th and 5th grade. i LOVED writing girly stories about groups of friends and drama (like remember those Sweet Valley High books? haha). I also organized a school newspaper with a friend in 5th grade, only it wasn't through the school. lol we spent hours on it at her house, typing up a gossip column, a love connection column, talking about the lates couples and stuff. we made copies and handed it out to our classmates. i was student body president in 5th grade too:p
Moral Hazard

When I was a child I was a professional mountain climber. My younger sister wasn't as good as me so we could only make it up some of the easier cliffs (that's her in the orange/black beside me)
