Armins mix was done on Ableton Live. It was all prearranged, not live.
If you wanna mix 7 tracks in 10 minutes, learn your music good. You're gonna have to get creative when mixing it. It's not too easy, but it's doable. I used to do it back in the hardhouse days in the 90's. |

| This sort of thing works really well with techno or D&B, but trance megamixes sound goddamn awful. |

Well I've never heard anything decent.
This sort of music is just meant to be played whole. |

Ps. If Armin's putting together 30 odd tracks in an hour, you're trying to up that to 42.. Quite a tall feat if you ask me!
I'd try reducing the number, and obviously you're going to be cutting out both intros and outro's.. In my opinion i'd practise on radio edits, that's just one idea.. Again it's difficult as you'll having to nearly role every 'main' part (would you call it the chorus??) of every song together.. Beat matching, well you'll have virtually no time to get them matched up (i need a few seconds still.. Maybe you're good enough to nail it fast enough though..)
I dunno either way good luck with it.

that megamix armin did was good but come one who wants to hear only 2mins ov a track and then it changes.
its like you just get into the track and BAM your like wtf NOOOOOOOOO i like that track put it back on NOW lmao
i think megamixes only work on cd compilations not for live events.
the only reason they are used is to kill off sometime THATS IT PERIOD.
i.e Sensation megamix instead of payin out a load more money for another top jock they just make a megamix and watch ppl dance to someone who has just pressed play on the cd player and there aint even a DJ in the booth hahahaha.
plus they do it so the other dj's can prepare themselfs :tongue3.
there is alot ov skill init tho as in makin a perfect track list.
to do one you really have to sit down and listen to each track individualy to know the tracks in and out like the back ov your hand type of thing.
if there is ppl readin this who has not tried it i suggest give it a go.
its a learnin curve which in fact makes you better at mixin lol.:happy2: |

i used to do this but got tired of only being able to do about 9 tracks in an hour. I do slightly faster mixing and I can do between 12-14 tracks avg. an hour. Trance/prog songs are damn long. But when I mix house I can fit a ton of tracks in a short period of time.
You cant really do fast mixing with trance. You miss too much of the song. Trance tunes are like stories and if you are doing fast mixing, you going to miss the body and conclusion of the track. As stated before, if you are going to go ahead and do this, you really have to know your tracks and set up the appropriate cue points (mix-in and mix-out). Most of the time it will end up sounding like b/c it is a hard thing to do. |
