Gmaps Pedometer - Calculate distance, elevation, etc

I got a link to this from a coworker of mine and I think it's f'n awesome!!! Was too good to pass up and not to share with my fellow TAs. This is really excellent especially if you are a runner, cyclist, or doing any kind of sport where you need to calculate your distance!!!

I don't get the point or usefullness of this.
P.S. I thought this had something to do with finding the pedos living close by to you, and i'm kinda dissapointed. |

You can map routes and calculate exact distance...it also tells you the distance between the points you set. For example you want to do a 10K run but have no idea exactly how much is 10K...
Or a gf of mine and I went for a run the other day and we guesstimated the distance - but now we can tell for sure. I also calculated how much I drive every day - 86km :eek:
It also tells you the elevation in the area where you're going which is pretty impressive. ;) |

i dont get it doesnt google map already tell you the distance in km? |

No...you can calculate distance if you're entering directions and it calculates it for you between 2 points. You also don't have much of a choice when it comes to the directions it gives you...you can have 100 different points in this online tool...
