Yeah i heard he is cool, as a person.

Music wise im still hesitant. However, there are some djs who have a really bad mark in the music industry because they have released cheese that they're not comfortable with in the future. E.g : Sasha, James Holden...etc.

Not saying this is the case with Darure, but respect to every artist i guess.

Three great reasons not to go...

No offense... but just trying to do my part to ween people off of the junk and to main line proper music. That said, get me drunk enough and I'll sit through anything.

all in good fun gents

Music is subjective people should listen to whatever they want to listen to. Its up to them to decide what "proper music" is for themselves.

Most people who I have talked to have said that he is a solid dj and that they have had a really enjoyable night everytime they've attended one of his gigs. My advice go check him out if you like him then it was worth it and if you dont then you dont. Whatever you do just decide for yourself.

Ok true, to a certain degree.

Its a very neutral point of view...
Benjamin_D
Ok well simple. if you have seen him and dont like him then dont go back. If you haven't seen him i think you should check it out and also maybe bring a friend, it's called supporting the scene. then you will know if you like him or not for your self.
Also if they have crap tracks that they have produced still does not mean they can not perform as a dj. most people on here are dj weather or not your pro or a bedroom dj you know how hard it is to do somethings and should respect what they can do. once again they are not where they are for no reason.

That's a loaded statement in the EDM community; there are scads of cats from the late '80s and early '90s still going today that should have taken the graceful way off the map a long time ago. Just because they struck gold in 1992 doesn't automatically mean they can hang with the scene in 2006, and it's slavish adherence to the "support the scene no matter how ty the DJ" manifesto that's enabled these anachronistic dinosaurs to continue to plague big-name clubs and huge events and drop absolute bat on a crowd that a) not only paid to get in, but b) deserved better. EDM has a nasty habit of turning up its nose at the "Evolve or Die" method of dynamism and forting up around the toothless and infirm Cro-Magnons as if to preserve them from musical entropy.

In the case of Darude, yes he's dated and has been for a long time, but he's still managed to adapt to the times reasonably well and from all reports can still throw down a very decent live set. I've never had the chance to see him myself, and won't make it this time either, so if you (that's the subjective "you", not "you" objectively, Ben, I'm not sharpshooting you) want to catch a classic act from somebody who isn't afraid of CDJs, go for it and get some reviews up so the fence-sitters at least have some kind of idea of what to expect if the chance comes around again. If he's never really been your cup of tea, as Lance and others have stated, find a local gig and support the scene with the up-and-coming talent. A name is not a reason to have to endure a crapulous set just because you might get viewed as some kind of EDM traitor if you don't pay someone's bills.

Dam calm down there, i wasn't trying to step on any toes. i live in houston and when there are shows around here i go wether they are big or not, or less i have already seen them and i didnt like em. thats what i ment by supporting the scene. the electrinic music in general, not just big names. i have seen darude and thought he was a good dj, i have also seen oakenfold twice and didnt like either time. may not see him again because there are better dj out there that deserve more credit than they get and can strait out play big names. so dont take anythong personal please. i was just mearly saying you should check it out if you haven't seen him that way you will know if you like him for your self or not and you are still supporting the scene. if you dont like him dont go back and if you do then go see him again. same for all the other dj's and in the long run it will work out for the smaller dj's that are trying to come up hopefully. im not lashing at anyone .
