well then again a LOT of students DO take the ctown bus so its not THAT bad...but if you meant cuz of the bus drivers that they employ, then yes i agree with you 10000% |

I've taken Amtrak (always to Delaware) at least 4 times more than the Chinatown bus (always to Philly), and the bus has actually been more on time than the train. Also, while I'm a guy, I've never felt threatened, nor have any friends I know (both male and female) on the Chinatown bus. For the 10x price increase for Amtrak ($10 to nearly $100 for a daytime trip), the Chinatown bus isn't that bad.
The major perks to Amtrak are the business car for power jacks and the food and bar (bar especially if you're coming back to NYC later in the evening for a night out when you're stuck out of town for a few weeks/months.) |

I've take the bus between nyc and boston and the first time like 4 years ago was great every other time has sucked. The last time was for Tiesto in Boston in May and I totally missed his entire outdoor set and had to settle for just his set inside. Plus, I'm only 5'6" and I felt so cramped in the seats and to make it worse the buses stop at that McDonalds and the smell of that place makes me want to vomit. Everyone comes back on the bus with the stench of McDonalds and to top it off people are eating it on the bus so I have to smell it for an additional 20-30min. I may be a girl but the safety doesn't concern as much as everything else. The cost is very attractive, but I'll avoid it like the plague |

drivers equal scary and i took it as an undergrad so i understand the cost benefits. i'm probably headed to boston this week and i prefer to pay for the train, my new favorite way to travel |
