Hey everyone i just thought i would tell you all that Juno has the represses of Ralphie B's Massive =) and Yahel-Voyage(original and magikal mix) on In Trance We Trust for 6.50UK pounds. Who cares if its not the original the point is now you can include such masterpieces in your sets without having to spend a fortune for the original, hope this makes some people happy cuz it sure made my day.

cheers

... couldn't really care less.

The challenge when playing tunes is to play stuff that isn't already popular but that fills the dancefloor nonetheless. And I wouldn't really go as far as to call those two tracks "Masterpieces" ...

i disagree w/ that.. the challenge is getting the audience to feel the same way you do when you here the songs you like.. doesn't matter if they are popular or not.. i could go on forever but when people take that "i don't play popular songs" attitude, im like what.. are you too good to play those songs?

by the way.. pvd13 thanks!
patticus
no, the attitude is that why not just pop in a mix cd, what's the point of spinning what everyone's heard?

anyways, thanks for the tip. but i already have voyage.. :)
and im not sure if my ralphie b is coming or not (dont you FRIGGIN HATE THAT)
so im not gonna order it again.. aiya:confused:

well if you want to put it like that.. then why should i have bothered to go see Ferry Corsten when he basically played a greatest hits set? do u think anyone there actually gave a rats ass that we've all probably heard most of those songs before? and its gonna be like that for any dj.. im sure most dj's YOU see end up playing some stuff that you've heard before right? just as well as im sure you're gonna end up playing stuff that other people have heard.. its not like most dj's to have some secret stash of unreleased that they are gonna throw on so they can have a completely original set..
Lexicon
Ah..... same old argument.
Never end, does it?
Some of the so-called djs like to spin popular tunes and there are djs who prefers to keep it in the underground.
And imo, it seems there are too many djs spinning the same old popular tracks, and there just isn't any originality anymore.
No different from another 'Ferry Corsten', or 'Tiesto', blah, blah, blah..
Not that I spin trance (I spin somethin' else), but it is pretty noticeable when different djs post their tracklists in forums and 'Bam!', so much similarities in track selection, all arranged in different order.

Makes you think, doesn't it?

well hapamoto im not saying i wouldnt go see those guys, but they usually have a few tracks we don't know right? lexicon makes a good point. i hate seeing all these threads w/ tracklists everyone knows, that's just me.
i dont mind ppl (or myself sometimes) playing up to 50% 'famous' tracks, but if you're trying to make a name for yourself as a dj, in a trance-knowledgeable environment, the best way is not to play all the anthems.

HOWEVER, if you're playing somewhere no one knows the first thing about trance, go right ahead. ive done it:D

just dont brag about it on these boards, hehe:p

ok now im in agreement w/ you patticus.. i see your point along w/ lexicon.. personally.. i spin whatever i want and half the time i don't have a set list.. i just bring some records that i would like to spin and just start and i go w/ what i think will sound good.. sometimes (unless i prepared a setlist) i don't even remember the setlist after its over.. but i like to play a mix up of both popular stuff and more underground.. i honestly think this argument is really only something dj's really would care about anyways.. and i have not had the opportunity to play in a trance-knowledgeble environment so more or less im forced to throw on some cheese just to get people back in the groove and then i can throw on some stuff that they haven't heard.. i wish i could play to a trance-knowledgeble crowd because then i know they would truly appreciate the music!
