| danny howells - now playing trancey, minimal, techy drug music of the finest caliber anywhere. I brought a bunch of minimal snobs along promising that they would love howells, and he blew them away. tracks from, holden, black strobe, tiga, nathan fake, martinez. danny howells should be on the cocoon roster with sven vath and ricardo villalobos. his sounds were floating around aria filling every possible space with undescribable weightlessness. you could tell as the night went on he just kept getting better and better. The more obscure he got the more people that left the club. leaving only the true fans to appreciate the musical stew he was creating. Best afterhours set i have heard this year by far anywhere. Thank you JFL for sticking with danny and letting him do what ever he wants even if it doesnt bring in the mainstreamer looking for DH circa 2001. How many djs cause club owners stay for the entire night until the very end. This is the first time i have actually talked to jfl and though he may be criticized, he was nothing but a gracious host for me and my friends the other night, making sure we had everything we needed and not accepting money for it. Danny has a mastery of all genres of music unlike any dj ever on this planet and knows exactley when and where to play the right stuff. He is also the nicest dj i have ever met of any stature. At like 12 pm on sunday morning i asked danny what time his flight was, he said "less than 2 hours" and put on another record. BRILLIANT!!!!! what we need now is a danny howells fabric mix cd. |

This was the 3rd time I saw Howells and it was sadly the worst time. Maybe the fact that he played with Digweed and the other time was NYE had something to do with the difference. Not at all bad...far from it, it was totally great and I enjoyed 85% of his set. He opened with some insane tribal madness...His first hour was awesome, the 2nd hour and a half was not that great imo, but from 9:15am til noon I didn't speak to a soul except the Howellers himself and I danced and danced and danced...I love the guy so much! He remebered me from NYE :gsmile: lol...and called me a "little blonde flame", he was super laid back and chilled out this time. Hi 2 all my dancing partners especially Julius mon dieu we rocked it for him ;)
Martin you are superb! I can't stop saying it any time I hear a set from you...I enjoyed every moment of it (as usual) and by now you know it's my total pleasure to be there every time :) I remember you telling me that you wanted to go nuts and play really dark stuff but you couldn't cuz you were opening for Howells. Well my friend, you did a great job especially carrying it on cuz Danny was late. Can't wait to hear you again :)
Overall, the night was really fun and I hope there are more like this soon...there is still hope everyone for this afterhours, I really believe that! |

It was a great night, but I have to mention how THERE WAS SOMETHING MISSING.
Very weird vibe that night, music was gold, but something was off.
