Anyone have any ideas for a Canadian coming from abroad to Montreal? Anyone in need of a roomate and living close to the Concordia downtown campus? All suggestions and comments welcome, would love to get a feel for what to look for, where to look, etc. I know it's pretty lazy of me not to be doing all of this myself, but I'm currently without a steady internet connection in Spain, which makes it hard to make phone calls and chase up leads.

Thanks a lot!

Depends on your price range, how close to campus you want to be (etc). Basically, we need more details from you, but I'll take a quick stab at it.

Our apartment is a couple of minutes walking distance from Concordia, so I know the area well. If you want to be close to campus (and you will want to especially in winter), you'll want to look on St. Marc (5 min walk), St. Mathieu (2-5 min walk) and Guy (1-2 min walk), and probably Lincoln as well (runs perpendicular to aforementioned streets). There are tons of apartment buildings on those streets that are really nice. However, I'm not familiar anymore with price ranges as I haven't looked for an apartment there in quite a while, but I assume you would be looking at something in the 700 - 900 CND$ range for a studio - 1 bedroom, although I'm probably off.

Well, I want to be fairly close to the school, under 10 min walk (I walk fast...) and I donīt mind roomates at all.

Ok, anyone need any roomates?

I've been hunting around found some seemingly ok people needing a third roomate at an apt. on St. Antoine and Atwater, close to the Lionel-Groulx metro. How's this area? The rent is good and its aparently right on the cusp of downtown. I don't mind paying up to 550 to be right in the city, but if this is pretty sweet, i may not have to.

I don't know which field you're studying (some fields require you to be more often on campus).

Anywhere next to a metro station and you should be good.

But if you want a piece of the action, then downtown is your spot, much more expensive tho.

check montreal.craigslist.com LOTS of people in the same situation as yourself :)

Sweet thanks. I'm studying Intermedia/Cyberarts. It's like digital fine arts, but not graphic design. I will definetely check out craiglist, didn't think of that.

I'm moving back to Canada after 11 years so things that seem obvious to some people might not be so obvious to me. :p

Roughly 550 MAX. Like absolute ceiling if the place and roomates kick ass.
