ferry corsten and aliases

how many godamn aliases does ferry corsten have.
what the is the point.

2 big ones, no problem.
then i look on discogs and theres a paragraph of them.
why so many ??

I dont remember who, but one guy told me 'Ferry Corsten' is actually an alias of Tiesto.

Quite often when you get signed to a label they own the rights to the name you're using, so therefore if you want to release something on a different label you have to use a different name as well. Sometimes artists also use different names so they can have several singles on the market at the same time and not "flood the market".

And to add to Mr. Mystery's response, also certain aliases are supposed to be a certain sound for the producer. Like under their main name they produce house, but under another alias they produce trance and they don't want people to think anything under the main name will be trance.

Recent example is Leon Boiler who has a tech-trance(ish) alias called Precursor I believe.

True, it gives the artist more freedom to expand and express there tastes.

So they dont get pigeon holed.

He's not doing aliases anymore he said in an interview. It's just Ferry Corsten, with maybe a new Gouryella release in the future but he wasn't too sure on that.

He was, he just said he doesn´t know when it will be made. :)
