Being popular in the Australian dance scene means ur just , and probably won't get anywhere internationally.
The Aussie scene is so far removed from the rest of the world, it's not funny.
ing NIck Skitz pre-records his sets, the prick. |

my point exactly.. australia is like, almost not even on a map.. thats like saying, omg im norways biggest dj, cus i like rock and . while that means yur biggest crowd would be the annual summer parade (30 k or something) but most of them are either druggies that likes the way the bass makes their arm hairs move or silly 14 yr old girls who are rebelling against their parents by going... lol i have no idea where im going with this.... |

LOL,
Australia's best DJ 3 years in a row didn't even register on the DJ Mags poll...
How popular are those Australian producers u mentioned in Australia?
NO-one here would have a ing clue who u were talking about. Ur living in la-la land.
Melbourne's the only place that comes close to having a real scene in Australia. Sydney at times as well.
the rest....
well....
there's always overseas. |

| Ask any international dj whether Australia is 'detached' from the electronic music world and they would laugh in your face. As for Kid Kenobi, he doesn't poll in dj mag because the style he plays (breaks layered over mc's) is not as commercially viable as Big room Trance or house, but for the people who know his style and acknowledge the unique nature of his abilities, technically he is up there with the very best of them. And for the record, Anthony Pappa was the man behind the biggest Trance anthem of all time, Freefall- skydive |

LOL
DJmag doesn't give a about genre's, it just goes purely via popularity.
when ppl think of EDM, and EDM culture and artists. No-one thinks of Australia.
Most Australians don't even know what EDM is. THey don't even know what trance is.
Sure, if i was a lover of irish pubs, beer, and a simple life, Hell yeah, Australia rocks for that.
But who the hell are u kidding? To point out an awesome contribution to the EDM scene, ur giving an example that's about 6 years old?
The scene in melbourne is small, but the rest of Aus, other than sydney, is 0.
Ppl here pay more to see Nick Skitz and Kid Kenobi, than Paul Van Dyk. And this is when PVD has the "world's best DJ" tag (regardless of what u think of it). Is this a ing joke or what? Just goes to show how much the clubbers here are in tune with teh happenings of EDM around the world.
In Brisbane, HMVs and Sanity music outlets are full of cheesy run-of-the mill CDs by artists like Nick Skitz, and other names, but i struggle to find a good EDM CD, like say one from Armin Van Buuren or John Digweed. No-one freaking buys them.
jesus... next u'll be telling me that we have a lot of power in this world politically....
Bull... just another fairytale. Keep pretending.
Australia's a good country, but it's not good at everything. |

hell,
vast majority of TAs are melbourne, and some from sydney. There's like 3 from Brisbane. None I'm aware of are in any other state other than WA. |

| do you know who dave seaman is? or markus schultz? or armin van buuren? they are all pretty big names with big labels...do you know which artists are signed to those labels? and have big selling tunes on those labels?? i'll give you a hint: i may have already mentioned some of them...perhaps trance in australia is not as mainstream popular as in europe...or not as popular in general as in europe. but there is no way you can say our scene is ...especially edm in general. for the last few years i think you will struggle to find a weekend where there have been no international djs or acts in edm visiting here...australia in my experience has a great edm scene, especially here in melbourne at least, there is always something on somewhere whether you like house breaks or trance. in other states maybe not as big, due to population or culture but again i think in general we here have a great scene. i think you should go out and party more instead of being so negative towards the people who are trying to get somewhere and put us "on the map" as you say... |
