so why do i find here many users with american flags who pretend listening to electronic music?
isnt america all about rap and hip-hop?! so i find it very strange when really some americans listen to trance music (or electro music in general) because i always thought they only push and promote their own culture, style. America is a rap/hip-hop country when we are talking about the music scene over there.
anyone can plz gimme further details about what is tolerated in USA when it comes to european culture? |

america has a zero tolerance policy when it comes to edm. Posession of tiesto cds carry a 5 year minimum sentence and god forbid you get caught dealing |

well that's a pretty ignorant comment. you cannot say that EVERYONE in an entire country listens to one type of music ("rap/hip-hop country"). just because they play that stuff on MTV doesn't mean that we're all over here staring aimlessly into our TV's bopping our heads to it.
i find european culture very interesting...it's so different across sea, and i really enjoy the different music that comes from there.
i think it's fair to say that the edm scene in the US is FAR smaller than over in europe...but there are many dj's and producers over here that are into pretty much every genre of edm. it also depends what city you're from, the vibe/style changes. |

omfg two perfect titties, and i have the pleasure of a post.
youre really ignorant if you think america is that way. we can listen to whatever the we want.
and as for whats hot, its not only rap/hiphop, but indie rock and pop music in general as well.
... |

| All of us are over here with our American Flags in our sigs because we were looking for hip-hop boards. Most of us haven't realized that this isn't a hip-hop board yet, so we have been trying to figure out who DJ Tiest-Yo is and when his next crunk club anthem is gonna be hittin' the streets. |

Nothing. We're just 300 million blood relatives of 50 Cent. |

america has 200+ million people, even if 1% are into edm, thats still 2 million...
america will fully embrace EDM (I hate that acronym.. I'll just call it dance music I think) when they get good quality, cheap stimulants - just like when the scenes took of in the UK/europe.
it'll happen..
it is happening
it's also impossible to accurately say "america" when the east coast is so different to the west, and to the center, or south for that matter. different climates, different peoples, different culture.
it's like saying eropeans all like the same things. we don't and nor do they. |

for me america stands for hip-hop/rap and i dont have to explain that for me as electronic muisc lover ppl who are listening to rap/hip-hop are a big reason to beat them up into hospital.
i have no prob with other music genres like metal, rock or anything else but rap/hip-hop is just monkey music. all what i have seen from america so far had anything to do with rap, sometimes when i zap through my programms i get mtv on my screen i know whats up .. its very american culture realted and that means rap,rap,rap...electronic music is a big taboo in america as it seems and that made me to post this thread:
europe is very open minded to american culture (proove: flood of hip-hop music what has already done high damage) but tnot in revers: america says STOP to any european related culture like european music |

music can't do damage. don't be an idiot.
wtf kind of a comment is "monkey music"?
electronic music isn't a taboo - it just doesn't sell anywhere near as well as hiphop.
pop music is what is popular - charts and MTV represent pop music.
I'm sure that you are annoyed when people say that dance music is just a bunch of beeps and bangs, you probably think that they don't understand it.
you don't understnd hiphop - at it's purest form hiphop is about a beat and a party, and if you experience real hiphop, you can't help but like it |
