hiram
so i bought this record and the songs on it are VERY low. i tried to make it louder by boosting up the highs and mids but its not enough. and if i bring the other songs down to that volume it would be too low. any ideas on how to get around this? i thought maybe if i turn down the trim on the louder song then turn up the master volume it might level them out. any thoughts?

Some songs are just pressed like that I found. Turning up the Gain on it might help. But I have Ferry Corsten - Star Traveller (Hydroid Mix...) and it is just a muddy sound on the pressing. Sometimes its just a "Aaaaah, what can ya do..." kinda situation. :(

Never had that problem. I always set up my mixer so that normal volume tracks hit just below the red with the channel faders about 75% of the way up. I never bring my channel faders all the way up. When a track isn't loud enough, I've still got that 25% to play with, and if that's not enough, then just a little bit on the gain fixes things.

Sometimes it has nothing to do with how loud it really is though. Some tracks just sound a little muddled.

+1...some dnb tracks are like that...such as dom&roland...kinda curious if the track was meant to be like that, or if it was caused during the pressing...:conf:

I have a similar problem:

i have fb. feat edun - whos knocking(benni bennasi rmx) , during the breakdown the volume sounds muddy and the level drops. really annoying.

damn, well ive still got some skills to develop, i usually just turn the faders all the way up.

some records are just at a lower volume.. use your gains. but sometimes it can't be helped because its a poor quality pressing, or just poorly mastered.

yeah ive got one as well its my white label of holden and thomphson - nothing...my copy of matt darey - eternity (matt darey) also has a scracthy sound as the breakdown starts, it was pressed on and im not sure if it was just mine or other vinyls but its annoying cause i always notice it....

anyone got any loud ones? my copy of max graham - does she know yet is mega loud.

Happens quite often on the second track of a vinyl if they've put two tracks on the same side.

Thats wierd, youd always thing that all the tracks on one side are the same pressing. Iv got a few records that are like that. Sometimes its skipping, sometimes its sibilance, sometimes its just distrortion or sometimes even bad mastering. Iv got a record from data that sucks. I might actualy have two from data but I can only remember the name of one.

Yeah - my copy of Rapid Eye - Absolut is completely unplayable. It just distorts and crackles all the way through.
