nah thats only one episode, Flight Of The Osiris. theres 8 more and most of them are random tales taking place in and out of the matrix. the scenes from the clip is from The Second Ranaissance 1&2 which tells the tale of how the robots took over and how the matrix came to be.

by far my favourite anime

Yeah, you're right. The episodes aren't linked at all, and are pretty interesting since they're drawn in different styles, and have different storylines. I'd have to agree that the haunted house episode is by far the best... The explanation of the sightings/etc are really nice.

Oh yeah I liked the haunted house one, I also liked the one made by the Cowboy BeBop director, can't remember his name :p. But yes, definetly gives a good oversight on everything about The Matrix.

Back when Animatrix came out, just about every set in the DC area started with this.

Development of the Animatrix project began when the film series' writers and directors, the Wachowski brothers, were in Japan promoting the first Matrix film. While in the country, they visited some of the creators of the anime films that had been a strong influence on their work, and decided to collaborate with them.

Just to give you an idea... ever seen Ninja Scroll, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Cowboy Bebop, Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within? Well the directors/production houses behind those movies worked on episodes for The Animatrix. The Wachowski brothers wrote four of the stories.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Animatrix (summary of each animation and the directors here)

Most definitely a MUST SEE.

If you are a fan of anime then you will recognise the work of the legendary directors.

If you are a fan of The Matrix then this will explain a lot of the background between parts 1 & 2.

If you are a fan of neither, still check it out as the series stands out on its own as individual short stories.

So then of my favorites, only one was written by the Wachowski Bros, the Kid's Story.
