| Heard Fox is actually going to support and budget the sequel, anyone know of it? I bet it'll be a huge flop though, rocco dead ect. First one kicked ass |

| yeah without David Della Rocco (coolest name ever) the movie can only be so good. probably be entertaining but no where near the same status as the first |

| Watch the first one again and think of these points. The reason why Boondock was so cool, and this is comming from a big fan of the movie, is that it really was something new and different while comming across as effortless. It had the same feel in aspect of Resevoir Dogs, but was far superior to it, for its humor and characters. But, like Resevoir Dogs there really wasn't much of a story behind the movie. Yes the narrative was done in a very cool way, with Dafoe imagining the scenes, but there was hardly any story and I don't expect one for the sequel, as it isn't in the style of Boondock and certainly not the writer, who I don't believe has written anything after Boondock. He cannot go back to the detective style for obvious reasons, and so what then does he do? Perhaps he will come up with even more intriguing characters, but I wouldn't hold my breath. I realize that the end of the first left us with somewhat of a cliffhanger, the 3 saints are on a mission to kill all scum in Boston (the city will be a ghost town by the time they're done). So I am guessing we simply move on with their story of vengence, you can easily see what would probably happen, the old man dies, the brothers infuriated have their spark renewed, but to an even greater extent it ever was to take out a truly evil villain. The movie will either be predictable, a simple repeat of style of the first (predictable), or somehow by some act of God will be everything that the original was, fun, unpredictable, and far different than anything we have really seen (Tarantino aside). They are saints afterall, so perhaps I should be more opptomistic. |
