Even though I live in the damn Woodlands, I can't make that one, since it's on a Monday vs. driving to KC after school on Friday. Actually works out pretty well.

How do you know when a sound is dead?

I call it the Tiesto/Oakenfold test:

If they are playing it, its way past time to move on. Its better to stay ahead of Digweed, then you have no probs. However, now we see John playing more proggy (I like him better on the tech/deep tip)... the rest of the world is moving to the MANDY, Hawtin, Luciano, Booka, Gui sound. See what happened to Trentemoller? The sound went south as soon as the 'Big Guys' got a hold of it. I've always been into minimal and tech since I heard TLB tj and Timewriter back in 1997. Recently, they have moved in a funkier harder tech direction. Personally... that is where I am headed. That said, once Tiesto or Oakey plays a MANDY track... I'm done with them. I've been playin them for 2 years now, since they started servicing the Balance Record Pool with their 1st few releases (Get Physical) which were rejected by everyone on the pool but me. So, the label stopped sending the tunes through the pool... and that was about the time I left (Feb 2005). Interesting to see people catching on to this sound. Soon, it will be time to move on.

Don't you just loving being a DJ or underground enthusiast, and trying to catch that prestine wave of new sounds and styles... very exciting.

Just some thoughts........

...and because he still hasn't stopped playing "What Else is There?" in every set of his...still...

Lance is this another whole anti-TCA , Anti-Balance movement? lol

Just kidding,

Gui Boratto is still very good, so is Eulberg. M.A.N.D.Y is overrated i think, because that style got overplayed by Steve Bug long time ago, so did the releases on Pokerflat.

When you say something is minimal, nowadays, it means "Prog tracks with cheeky plug ins and VSTs", When i say minimal Im talking about My My and Gabriel Ananda.

So whats new in electronic underground? Everything, from the latest Lineas de Nazca and Audion to even the ambient oriented sounds of Nathan Fake.

BTW anyone heard Crashcourse in Science?

He, meaning Trente? I've never liked his live sets... I was talking about the sound he made popular. The bandwagon filled quickly and now progressive house has been over run with electro. However, nothing beats 'good' electro. But the stuff that producers are throwing out there is just poo for the most part.

I got some upcoming from Red Flag Collective... they seem to be on to something cool in the realm of progressive.

We'll see what happens

Lance

Electro is a bad word these days, how can you differentiate that from Italo Disco or Italo House? Well, im techno'ish...

Check out the new label Mmmph from Amsterdam signing Canada's newcomer Caleb Fox and Russian Linesman (ripperton will remix this guy)

No anti-TCA, I'm friends with those guys... BRP went into another direction that I was interested in going. That and I wasn't playing any vinyl....

Gabriel Ananda is sick!

Ananda ftw...Audion/Dear ftbiggerw. And I know what you mean with the sound in general, but Trentemoller still could've kept progressing instead of holding onto that track & sound forever. The fact that he still plays it only exemplefies how little he's done so.

I still like M.A.N.D.Y., at least their sets. It's still fun, if not on the very furthest edge of innovation (and it's not like I've been around all this stuff for the longest time ever, either...not even 2 years worth...including the cheese phases).

...I'll let you two go back to listing stuff I don't yet know but like now. :D

Yeah i dont dig BRP either... Im friends with them too, but i never really liked the whole fortier/massielo/digweed ubercoolish hype.

They are now opening up to the better-side of EMO (haha) like Bill Patrick, James Holden, M.A.N.D.Y and Dj T.

Anyways, thats a whole different scene and story...

I liked being on the pool for the majority of time that I was on it. But, I moved musically. Villo works his ass off running the pool. It was rockin when Chris, Tim Skinner and Villo were running it together. Skinner always kept the cool techy stuff coming in. But that was short lived. The pool is mostly digital now... which is cool.

I don't know about any hype... I guess when a DJ or producer gets to a certain level, you have hype surrounding them. Chris is an old friend of mine, I have a great deal of respect for him. Don't know Desyn very well and John is always been very pleasent.

I'll look for Mmmph... I've really been getting into the 3 Channels stuff for the midset thumpers.

Bill Patrick and Dennis Rogers are ill... great sets at Pawn shop
