How can I make the sound that comes in at 0:42? It starts getting wobbly (lfo on pitch?) once it's been held down for a a bit, but not at the begining. How do you get an lfo to do that, the little delay before it kicks in?

lol... you copied the wrong link...

maybe the delay time on the lfo is set to the max? cant tell without the clip.

You could always fix the link so we can actually hear the sample?
farris
Just remove the 'How' bit at the end of the link.
Here is the fixed link:

probably automation.

Sounds like a monophonic square wave with the filter all the way open and a little resonance. LFO is set to modulate the pitch of the square wave oscillator and LFO speed is bound to keyboard aftertouch. You could bind LFO speed to the mod wheel and achieve the same effect.

IF you listen to it, the LFO speed is increasing the longer the note is held down. If you had a synth like Albino or a Virus you could probably do it all in the mod matrix, but use of the mod wheel and good playing will get more natural vibrato like results.

Also, that tune sounds so 16 bit full on psy after 30 seconds :stongue:

EDIT: Hang on - Im gonna upload a sample of it from my Virus B. This is hilarious. The square wave sounds exactly like that rockman tune. Haha!

DSP Man to the RESCUE!

Ok, at 00:45 you hear that "wobbly" sound as you said? Well all it is is some type of low bit waveform "square is about as low bit as it gets, requires 2 bits/samples," with no filtering or anything else applied to the sound. The only thing that changes is that an LFO modulates the pitch at a constant rate, but why does it only start modulating the pitch after so long? Well it's a simple formula, which you could produce in Reaktor or SynthMaker, where you tell the synth that for each new note, delay the signal "with a delay ofcourse," of the LFO from reaching the HFO "smart term for an Oscillator which stands for High Frequency Oscillator, since the oscillator could be a DCO "Digital Controlled Oscillator," or VCO "Voltage Controlled Oscillator," HFO is a more general term," So now when you play a new note, a delay prevent the LFO from modulating the signal until after a certain period of time.

Yeeha!

Here is my 5 minutes try with FM7, tell me if you like, I can give you the patch.

haha, I didn't want that actuall sound, just was wondering how they make lfo effect pitch more over time. Forgot about mod wheel, duh.

Nice haha, You figure out those keys yourself? What method did you use to make the wobbly delayed? Mod Wheel or Matrix?

LFO's have a delay time? My TI doesn't, just checked.

8-Bit. MegaMan 3 FTW.

FM7 has a delay slider for the LFO, check the LFO section.

VStation also has one delay knob for each LFO.

I think zeta too but I can't check as I don't own the synth.

The midi was fun to make ;)
