The "Does my track sound like this track?" thread...

Ok so I've read a few threads lately from some artists who have written a track or melody and think they've heard it before.

If you've written something and aren't sure if it sounds like somthing else, or have already heard something similar/identical to yours, then post some samples in here and see what everyone else thinks.

For example, I wrote a tune a year or so ago that I swear was mine, but last Christmas when swamper posted all those essential mixes I happened upon a set by pvd that had an opening track with an identical medlody:

yeah... sounds pretty much similar to me... and what's your point there?

My point is that I set up this thread so people only need one place to check if their tune is original, instead of making countless threads in the forum. :)

i once produced a track called 'this feeling' and the bassline is the same as 'alice deejay - better off alone' but it was in a diff key.

I managed to rip off Allure - We Ran At Dawn once without even hearing it.

i believe it IS yours. i like the track. there is some similarity in the progression of the tracks, general up and down motion, tonality... but i think if you do an analytical comparison you may find there there is little in common afterall; the tracks are ambiguous, with no definate melodic character (progressions) to incriminate either one of you... you are wrong about the similarities. and they sound different most importantly.... sort of paint different pictures.

yeah aqualia i know what ya mean, like i have made a lead melody and thought yeah this is awesome as im making it then when im puttin in the final notes i think, gee this sounds kinda familiar, is this original or did i just pull this melody out of my head from someone elses track
