all are freeware and are fairly dope.
and when you really want to start getting nerdy and lauching missles via vstplugins and midi, google:
plogue bidule
max/msp
bome midi translator
midiyolk
all that stuff has rediculous learning curves but are worth studying/reading up on |

My suggestion is to master all the internal stuff first. There's plenty there to get you started. Synths like the 3xOsc, ts404 and sytrus are all capable of some really great sounds, it just takes some practice to get the most out of them.
