Incredible courage? wtf? :wtf:

Wouldn't slugging the guy with his largest telephoto lens be couragous??

Unbelievable...

I've been reading too that this is shot is also staged.
Apparently (at least according to the gun experts) he's about to join the 'half-moon' club and put himself in the hospital if he does pull the trigger...lol :haha:

NY Times is a socialist, left wing rag worthy of being disbanded under treason laws.

cour·age Audio pronunciation of "courage" ( P ) Pronunciation Key (kûrj, kr-)
n.

The state or quality of mind or spirit that enables one to face danger, fear, or vicissitudes with self-possession, confidence, and resolution; bravery.

The word's definition is very neutral. Journalism is covers both sides of the story. That's why the press is not to be touched and wear flak jackets that say PRESS. Sometimes it doesn't happen and FOX newsreporters get shot at by the IDF. So... if you didn't know... that's why the reporter is not going to smack the guy on the head with a telephoto lens..

...although "courageous" would also be used properly there as I wouldn't smack the head of somebody holding a gun.

That pic was taken in a crackhouse on the south side of chicago.

I'm confused... where does it say it's staged?

All I can say in all honesty is thank goodness I live in a nation where the NY Times can be vehemently despised by the ultra conservatives and there is not a thing they can do to it. Let's me know that this isn't Vladmir Vladmirovitch Putin's Russia and his careful control of the media over there. No matter how much the Times is hated in other circles it will continue to be an independent paper no matter what others may think of their angle, lets me know this is still America. Hey Firestarter you live in Canada why are you worried about the NY Times stories. Sure there is worse in the eds over there.

Half-moon? Meaning his muzzle is pointing at the wall in front?

No, unless the lens can knock out him and all of his buddies it would not be couragous it would be extremely stupid.

wow...are none of you reading the caption?

He's shooting at Americans....an American newspaper showing a photo of a 'sniper' shooting at American soldiers, hello? :conf:

The half-moon club refers to the shiner this guy is about to get after getting an eye-full of lens if he does in fact take a shot...
Several blogs I've come across are pointing this out, hence the 'staged' hypothesis...
(sorry, I should have been a little clearer w/ that statement...)

Hello. I would rather have an impartial press tell me all the facts so I can decide the case on my own volition rather than a partisan press tell me what facts they "think" I should know or the facts on an American slant so that I can form my opinion based upon their formulated case. So the fact this reporter was filming participants of the other side in battle (are you saying the NY times doesn't have embedded reporters reporting from US troops?) really doesn't bother me.

This is really the substance of these sites? Can I utilize some critical thinking? So the NY times told the insurgents to mount an impractical scope on a rifle that yields absolutely no value despite the fact that the backlash would render it an obsolete weapon and therefore it's obviously a fake photo?? Why couldnt they have simply taken a photo without the scope? Oh of course, I'm sure that the insurgents are well versed in battle tactics which explains why they're dying on a daily basis.

I know most of you aren't shooters, but scopes aren't that long. The part touching his eye isn't part of the scope. At first, I thought it might be a part where paint had peeled off the wall, but it covers that AC cord. I've never used one, but I believe there are soft rubber scope extensions that one uses to reduce glare off the lens. I think that's what this is, which wouldn't hurt him at all from the recoil. Here are pics of an example.

Fir3start3r, were these really "gun experts" who were talking about this, because if they were, they should know better than to think that the eyepieces of scopes are that long.
Fir3start3r
I'll see if I can find the websites where they were mentioning the scope after soccer tonight to clarify.
