MIDI Keyboard + Sound Card

Hey guys,
I'm looking to start getting some hardware into my set up. I'm starting off simple with just a new Sound Card and a simple MIDI keyboard for now.
The two I've chosen are:
M-Audio Audiophile 2496 (approx. $200 CND)
M-Audio Radium 49 (approx. $100 CND)
I was wondering if any of you that use this software have any input on its quality in relation to its price. Have you had any problems? Were there any short comings?
Are there other keyboards on the market for a similar/better price and quality? My budget is not very large (only about $300-350) and I'm not looking for anything too complicated.
Any input would be appreciated,

| yeah that's a nice sound card, I might go with another midi controller but for that price range it'd be alright, I thought the prices were opposite, neways it's just a midi controller you don't need to get too fancy with it CME UF5 49 key midi controller would be a little better dont ya think :happy2: |

| the price/quality ratio of the audiophile is just supurb. I've got it too, latencies are awesome and sound is as well, especially for this kind of money. |

| i would get the audiophile192 over the 2496. drivers are a bit more stable, and plus if you ever decide to get a hardware synth or any other external sound module, you'll have balanced line inputs rather than RCA. |

i think u have done good thinking on the budget. these simple setup can become very powerfull when put to good use. now all u need is a pair of monitors and ure set!!!

| Don't get the CME !!! Get a nice controler. I would go for a novation. The remote 25 is nice. The 25sl is better ;) |

yes of course the novation remote sl is simply the best one around, but if i had to save for decent monitors, i would go for cheaper controller. if u have the cash, go for the novation remote SL ,, its just amazing !!! (makes u wanna throw away some old synths).
but what im saying is that if i had to chose between having a regular controller (like radium or oxygen) and a good pair of monitors i would do so... sure is nice getting the novation , but if ure stuck with some crappy stereo speakers or headphones,,, then thats no good. |
