I hope this hasn't been posted before, but i think this program is fairly new. Adobe Audition 2.0 - IT CAN REMOVE VOCALS FROM THE SONG. My friends were telling me u could do it, but from what i had read here on the forums for the past 2 years i kept arguing that it's impossible. Now I read about this program and it says u can just pick out the vocals that u want to erase. Adobe Audition 2.0

This is what I read on how to erase the vocals - When you install adobe, open the song that you want to remove the vocals from, and go to the "FAVORITE" tab on the file menu and click "VOCAL REMOVE", then Save as MP3.

I hope this is true, im going to go and see for myself.

Anyone have this? Does this really work?

Just having the slightest knowledge of how audio frequencies work explains that it can't be done.

No.

It can do some nice tricks. If it will really work sufficiently for anyone serious about audio? No.

I read this on another forum: "It doesnt remove All vocals, because every song studio mixed and sound engineered mastered since 1998 has blended tracks, which means there isnt a separate band/track with just vocals and just instruments, they quit doing that, i forgot why, they just did, which is why when u try to take away the vocals it sounds like half the time less u get an old song that has two diff. mixes in it, in that case u would be able to, but no you cant fully take away vocals but this gets close to it."

Sure, it probably removes the vocals, along with half the instruments, and makes everything else sound awful. That's the only way it could possibly work.

No that's not 100% true, the person who posted the thread about this program on another forum already tried this and and said it completely erased the vocals from one of his songs. [[ LINK REMOVED ]]
If u guys want an example, this is the song he experimented. Some other posters at the forum downloaded the program and said it worked, and some also said it didn't so..

It work, but...

1- Only when the voice is fully centered
2- It doesn't remove all effects applied to the vocals if they aren't centered
3- It also remove everything else that is centered in the mix. (bass, kick...)

It's quite useless in trance music.

Phase invert, and it cancels out everyting dead center.
In some tunes, the vocals are dead center.
Now go figure...

Yup.. but!

If I were programming it, or trying to do this myself, you could possibly remove the vocals depending on the track.

Yes, you would need to erase a lot of frequencies where instruments might reside. So you would need to find places in the track where the same instrument plays without the vocal (for example, the kick is usually isolated near the beginning and end of most tracks).

So yeah, time consuming and based on luck of arrangement, but I guess it depends how desperately you need it.

You do know MP3 is a lossy format, right?
