Remove silences in WAV file

I don't know if this is the right forum I'm postin in, but this is the problem:

I got a wav file recorded, but during recording something went wrong.
Now gaps of silence occur frequently.
Is there a program that can autodetect and remove these gaps?
I found several programs that can remove silences at the start and the end of a file, but none who can handle the gaps inside a wave.

Manually deleting the gaps is not an option - there are a lot of them
Re-recording is also not an option.

I got soundforge, but I can't find a tool to do this.

If the gaps are happening on a regular basis, then Soundforge's Gapper/Snipper tool might help. You'll need to know the exact time between the gaps, and also the exact duration of the gaps. Just enter those times into the snipper and Forge will start cutting those bits out automatically.

Don't know any other way of removing dead segments, sorry.

Use the auto trim/crop tool in the process menu with these settings:
Function: remove silence between phrases
a/r threshold: 0db (100%)
fade in/out: 0

Bloody hell! The amount of times I've been through the process menu and I've never noticed that function!

Cheers Centra Spike, this will probably help me out too :)

wavelab can do this too I think ;)

Thanks for the help guys.
I tried both sollutions, but none of them worked.
Centra Spike's sollution simply deleted everything
I use soundforge 5. Herhaps I did something wrong?

My last post was wrong; I meant 0% (what was I thinking?) but you might need to set it slightly higher if it isn't dead silence.
Also for whatever reason this tool won't delete very short bits of silence, at least in version 7. The lowest I can set it to is 100 ms. So, if this isn't low enough you could try working around it by slowing down the file, removing the silence and then speeding it up again. Better to find a plugin that does the job properly though.
