| well i guess you can save 8 dollars and lose a little bit of tracking ;) ...btw are you sure about the lack of sound difference. the 7's seem a little punchy and bass heavy... |

| i really can't notice a difference in sound. the 7's are definitely punchy, but so are the G's. |

I don't like having to put 3.5-4g of weight minimum to get good tracking and sound quality from the Orto's. |
I've never put a weight on my needles, and they have been fine. Had em for many years without replacement, and the still work nicely. |

Ortofon Nightclub, Ortofon DJ, Ortofon Elektro
Nightclubs for the best sound, DJs for versatility, Elektro for lower-priced versatility
For a cheaper alternative, I wouldn't go any lower than the Shure Whitelabels |
I've had the Nightclub's for years... they're good needles imo. |

| I've used Ortofons and Shures. I like the Shures better. I'd go with m44-7s or m44gs if you need something to use at home. |

u miss understood bro...I didn't say "Place" a weight on the needle. Its called tracking force...that little black dial u screw in on your tonearm. As you screw it in, more weight is applied to the cart/record. Also never said they wern't good, there kick ass carts, just a lot rougher on your vinyl cause they need more tracking force than the Whitelabels do. Geez..lol |

they sound the same to me in my headphones (mdr-v700dj), my computer speakers (logitech 2.1 whatever, dunno model number), and in my car (which is a nice system). i can definitely hear a difference in punch between the 7's and the G's, but not a whole lot. the 7's definitely aren't too bass-heavy, either. either way, i like both better than my pro-s concordes (which i still use for backup). |

| what about the treble...doesn't the m447 sound a bit shrill particularly at high volumes |
|

| actually, i hate the treble of my concordes; way too harsh sounding. the shures are nice and crisp. i know i'm sounding like a marketing guy for shure or something but i just really think they are better carts for the price. like i said, i also own a pair of pro-s carts and they are great except for the harsh highs. |

| thanks for your input...i was actually gonna do the switch to the concord pro-s in order to improve sound quality |
