i couldn't find any thread on this...apologies if its already been discussed!! i just got back from seeing it and thought it was alright...not too great but not bad either...

I haven't seen it but the reviews say, good acting, bad story and bad directing. After Signs, shamalan has put out a bunch of duds. I'm growing tired of his reality twists, its just really played out. He should go make a regular movie and stop trying to insert himself into it and layoff the gimmicks.

lol, my local newspaper gave it an F. The only other movie it has given it to to my knowledge is Gigli. I don't have any desire to see it.

It seems people will love it or hate it with a passion. I happen to be one who loved it. Check out the reviews on IMDB. Its rated either a 1 followed by "this is the worst movie ive ever seen" or rated a 10 followed by "best movie of the year". It won't appeal to many people im sure, but I think he did a damn good job with it and deserves more praise than people give him.

A regular movie eh? Like the 95% of regular crap that comes out of Hwood these days?
Let me also add that there isn't a surprise twist ending. It simply ends. There is no in depth explaination for any unanswered questions and there isn't suppose to be. People seem to forget that it was written as childrens story. The story is straightforward and all that is need to said to carry the it foward is indeed said. And thats it. If you try and dig too deeply and become over analytical of everything, you won't like it. If you dig too shallow and only see what is laying on the surface, you won't like it. It requires a bit of imagination and acceptance of the fact that it ISN'T your typical Hollywood movie. Those that realize this and accept it for what it is, might see it in a different light.

Seriously, though. No twist?

Boring.

I really enjoyed this movie. It didn't try to be a horror movie or thriller as his others failed to be, but was actually just a good tale of nebulous storytelling. It was really more of an experience more than it was just a means to convey a plotline. The characters were very interesting as they all their extremely funny idiosyncrasies. I think that Shyamalan has really grown as a writer and director with this movie - it was really just a good, fanciful "bedtime" story that would easily appeal to both children and adults.
