A track I've been working on the past few days...

I don't know if this is close to being finished or not, but I'd like to hear what you guys think of this. Please tell me what I'm doing right/wrong, as this is the closest I've come to making a complete track (in the 3 months or so that I've been messing around with producing).

sounds very tight from the start. some really nice sounds in there but where is your bass? you need to get a nasty bass in there to pick this track up and give it a lift.
breakdown lasts too long without nothing happening. try and reduce it to about 16 bars. kicks back in still no bass. melody is starting to get repetitive.
new melody comes in. not really doing it for me.
overall your kick and percs are nice. just make them percs wetter and wider, use the stereo sound. get a bassline in there. add more stuff some effects, percussion rolls etc. some pads also. bit more work and it could be good. i like your kick especially. |

thanks, this is the kind of advice i'm looking for :) I'm really new to producing so this is very helpful, thanks a lot!
i worked on this track about 4 hours tonight so I'm going to take a break and work on it again tomorrow evening with a fresh mind. I'll be sure to post an updated version either tomorrow or tuesday. |
