HEHE, poor old man Bush. He also did a great job of convincing the coca farmers of Columbia to grow bananas instead :D
You ever read about that little idea he had Thor? |

| Hmm not sure, what wonderous Idea was that? Make it a capital crime to be athiest? ;) |

No, no. I remember reading this article about how, in an effort to stop the production of Cocaine in South American countries, specifically Columbia, President Bush urged the President of Columbia to have his farmers grow, instead of the very profitable coca plant (used to make Cocaine of course), bananas and various other fruits.
Drug war indeed. |

Wow...such vehemence....:(
Obviously there are some strong personal beliefs in here. :p
(I to could use google for my arguements...)
But I will say this. Bush is right. The founding fathers of the USA were all God-fearing, righteous men with a strong sense of liberty, peace and justice for all. It's written in their laws and even on their own money. Why should he turn his back on the very foundation his own government believes in for a small minority? :conf:
How do I know this? I've been to a business meeting where a political figure spoke and they answered a question regarding religion in politics.
It's much more integrated than most people think.
And oh yea...no one has ever built a statue of a critic... ;) |

thank you for Capella's Guide to Athiesm.
by the way, i have argued the case of Agnostics for a while, and i have recently learned that it's a lost cause. I only whip out the facts when others start to attack mine. :D |

Wow, you think Athiests don't deserve to be citizens of the USA?
If you didn't realize it the USA proudly proclaims protection of minority rights, in race, class or religion. Thats why supposedly the USA is a great country, many other countries if you don't believe in the right religion you get killed for it.
You have the right to your belief, why do I not have the right for mine??? That is hypocritical at best, and I can't believe you'd say that.
The majority of people used to think the solar system had the Earth as the center of it, people used to think that the earth was flat. Just because a majority thinks a certain way doesn't mean they are right.
All great thinkers in history have been critics of many things, you couldn't be more wrong about your statue comment :D Every great theologan, artist, etc... Most of them were contraversial, and you better believe they were critical of the world...
This is what Athiests/Agnostics get mad about, the fact Religious groups preach tolerance/love/respect for the fellow man, but once you tell them your an Athiest they tell you that you don't deserve to be a citizen, etc...
Very sad indeed, free thinking doesn't sit well with some religious people thats for sure :D |

Mwuahaha.
Believe it or not, there are a lot more then "just a few atheists."
Now though, that comment about Bush being right has riled my blood.
"But I will say this. Bush is right. The founding fathers of the USA were all God-fearing, righteous men with a strong sense of liberty, peace and justice for all."?
That is ignorance and bull rolled into one.
Thomas Jefforson, the slave-holder believed in liberty, peace, and justice for all?
Please, staments like the one you just made are what pisses people off.
God-fearing? People aren't supposed to be afraid of God. Control through fear is called Totalitarianism, and Stalin did I mighty fine job of that, making himself into a demi-god.
Now the flame-war has begun. :toothless |

Actually you should be afraid of god.
In the old testament he regularly punishes ppl for their mistakes and even kills everything in the world via a flood to get rid of supposedly bad ppl (hard to believe noah was the only good person).
God also loves to torture ppl by starving, burning, and etc. i could go on and on. Just read the bible, it does eventually get quite interesting.
On another topic, if god was always around then why can't the universe, or at least the big bang, just always be around. They both are quite unbelievable, so why have an unbelievable thing do a miracle when we can have an unbelievable thing half explained. |

The big bang 'unbelievable' ? Man its almost fact at this point, many scientists are saying the evidence is almost conclusive at this point. Since the hubble telescope went up, astronomers have found lots of supporting evidence for the big bang theory..
Hell read the theory, it sounds very possible, nothing 'quite unbelievable' about it :D
I'll also agree that God is a vengefull being :) |

Now I may have said that Bush was right, but I never did say I agreed with it now did I?
There seems to be some great assumtion here.
I'm not saying this to appease the two obvious atheists/agnostics here, just stating facts about a country and it's beliefs.
There no need to finger point in a debate or get personal here.
I'm stating Bush's beliefs and facts here people and the country he serves.
If you feel threatened then phone HIM and explain is to HIM; I didn't attack anyone here, rather I was asked for my opinion.
It's fine that some may not agree with the most powerful country in the world but just because I state facts does not call for the hissings or personal derision.
I asked a question whether or not Bush should turn his back on the foundation of his government, and got no clear answer, hoping that I'd get a interesting answer and I get attacked.
I stated that religion is very much integrated into politics; this is true (there's no debate here, if you really want support I'll give it).
Someone wanted a debate. There's no right or wrong in a debate; that's why it's a debate.
I'm not saying I'm right and you're wrong here.
My suggestion is if you can't help but get personal then leave the arguement or act like a mature human being.
Will you always like what you read? No.
Do I agree with everything everyone says? No.
Nor should you here.
Read with a grain of salt. ;) |
