Docks is just the latest in their hitlist.
Lets not forget the Island airport, Wakestock, Redpath sugar, boat cruises among other things they have bitched about (and gotten their own way on)
|
Exactly. I Hope the rally goes beyond just supporting the Docks and adresses the bigger issue of Islanders wanting to run Toronto down there and our society in general giving in to a couple of whiners. |

Seriously though, you can count me in for support. Maybe in a few months or so we can have an outdoor event so that we can dance to show more support? There's no violence involved :clown:
Dancing in the streets!~ |

That's not the only reason .... one thing after another thing, soon all clubbing will seize to exist, a lot of people don't like clubs or clubbers, I don't even like the docks, but this has nothing to do with any particular venue. |
Oh, but I think it does... perhaps the Docks and its supporters wish to frame this as the beginning of a city-wide crackdown on dance music venues, but what evidence is there for such a theory? Time and time again, the problems lie with one particular venue on the waterfront, and nothing more, as far as I've read. |

we have to unite with them too ya know.....sad but true...
PS. the docks will be bringing their appeal to court right? so when they do so, that date and time would be perfect |

You really don't get it do you? Lifting the rave protocal will allow you to have a large scale event in Toronto .... large meaning 18,000 + at the CNE again. Regardless if it's all ages or not.
|
No, i do get it. I am just saying why make the whole thing more complicated than it has to be? The rave protocal is old news, and will likely never be resurrected. The issue at hand should be dealt with first before anything else at this point. And where did i mention anything about all ages? |

The King-Spadina people have a point as well - the club distinct is ugly as sin at night... now if I learned anything from playing Sim City as a kid, this is a zoning issue. Where is the city going to put nightclubs anyhow? Poor urban planning leads to the thick concentration of clubs on Richmond street leading to a higher crime rate and other unsightly business.
Whatever the deeper issues may be, this wouldn't be a problem if so many clubbers weren't ing idiots. I still don't see this as a crackdown on dancing so much as it is a crackdown on obnoxious (and sometimes even violent) behavior. |
