going to be visiting europe for a month, advice?

A friend and I are going to do the whole back-packing across europe in August. We're probably going to be going as far north as Germany and Poland but spend more time in southern europe as far as Greece.
Any helpful tips from the locals? Since we'll be carrying everything we own on our backs I have to pack light. Whats the weather like, short sleeves, long sleeves? |

At the moment extremely hot...the weather is hot for more than 6 weeks now...we're facing more than 30° degrees celsius now rasing up to 36° degrees some days...sun is shining all day...looks like the weather will be fine some more weeks, but time will tell :) |

Forget southern Europe at the moment, it is too hot. Go there in October, that would be the best time of the year. The best climate at the moment is at the shores of the baltic sea (Germany and Poland) - travelling along the shoreline of the baltic sea is certainly a very nice experience at the moment... and especially for backpackers...
Summer in Central Europe usually lasts until early in September with very high temperatures (>25-30°C) around noon while the temperatures during the night start to drop significantly below 15-20°C in the second half of August... |
