Turkish Progressive house and prog in general

While I know that progressive house is still alive and kicking, (just look at Cattaneo's Sequential or Warren's recent GU) it has really taken a backseat to the electro craze that has hit house music, for better or worse depending on your musical taste, and as a result one has to look a little deeper to find quality progressive. Personally I dig electro but nothing beats a solid progressive track.

That being said there are a number of producers who consistently put out quality progressive house, and a number of them are from Turkey. Starting with my personal favorite, Yunus Guvenen, then Murat Uncoglu, and newer stars like Alican and Soner (their remixes on Murat's wavedepth ep are unbelievable).

Though thats only 4, compared to the number of producers coming out of England, US, Germany, etc, 4 awesome Turkish progressive producers is impressive to say the least. I am not aware of any turkish producers who do not produce progressive, mainly because they do it so well. Curious as to why progressive house has taken such a hold in that country while a lot of former progressive producers have, at least to some extent, switched to different styles.

Side note, does anyone know where Somnus Corp and Deep Mariano come from? Also, aside from Shiloh, Hybrid, and Jiva, where have the progressive breaks gone?

Deep Mariano comes from Rosario, Argentina... I think lol

I might agree with what you say about prog house, but a good electro track in the middle of a set IMO usually kicks ass... but anyway, it's all subjective in the end.
