I am looking to upgrade my monitors. I use them primarily for DJing and I recently got a MIDI controler to start messing around with production, but they primary use in life is DJing.
I want passive monitors because I already have a great passively cooled amp (http://www.audiosource.net/amponea.html) that I want to keep. My current speakers are a pair of BIC America DV62-si which are wonderful bookshelf speakers for the money. I will be moving those downstairs to my home theater and want an upgrade in sound.
I have been looking hard at the Event 20/20 v2's, I have DJed breifly on someone elses setup with the powered version of these. I think he had the first version of these. Does anyone know if the v2's are really only in a different enclosure. In which case it may be worth it to save some money and get the original version used.
The other thought I had was the Alesis Monitor One MKII. I have heard decent things about those as well.
Basically I don't want to spend more than a few hundred for the pair. Are there any other monitors I should be looking at? Which of these two do people prefer? |
