Question...

Hi Lange

I don't suppose you (or anyone else) have any tips on producing good, lush full strings? Everytime I try and create a String/pad riff it always sounds a little too tinny and not soft enough.

Hi,

Could just be down to EQ-ing. If a sound is sounding too 'harsh' you could just reduce the cutoff Frequency to give a warmer feel (also reduce the resonance). Do you have synths like the JV1080 which have 'sampled' Strings/Pad sounds? or are you trying to use 'Analogue' style synths for pads? (e.g. Access Virus/Nord Lead etc). It is difficult to create an authentic sounding String Pad from some basic waveform synths. Also, try mixing a couple of Pads together and put a long (dampened) reverb on the pad.
