I love going to Tobermory with friends! Its where we've do most our camping all throughout my life!
The Island is nice too, actually our secretary here owns property on it and has her cottage up there!
Great summer getaway! |

It's all about Timmins baby!
On your way you'll pass the highway bookstore, the earlton zoo, a couple of moose and about six Husky gas stations.
Im having a blast in my home town, lol |
Poor you ...:D haha jk. Im from Sudbury originally, i feel the pain.
But to answer Adrenalina's question... I'd hit up anything in the Laurentians. Mont Tremblant, St Jovite, St Sauveur, St Adele... some of the most beautiful landscapes in the country are in that area... really!
I'm gonna do it again... as soon as I get a day off that doesn't involve me either going to NIAGARA FOR TIESTO !!! or moving |

I dunno where you're based (TO or elsewhere) but Graham & I like to go to St. Jacobs and hit up the farmer's market. We've stayed at a bed & breakfast in Elora (1/2 hr away), and gone inner tubing down the Elora Gorge (you can camp there too). Fergus is its sister town and is also very quaint.

It's so funny to hear a place that's 10 minutes from my home described as a tourist destination!
Just a tip, if you want to do the farmer's market thing in St. Jacobs and actually purchase fresh produce your best bet is to hit it up at 4pm.... all the booths are shutting down and you can barter some great deals. I once got 3 bushels of apples for $5.
Additionally, for breakfast hit up "The Ceader Barn" (driving from the Market to St. Jacobs take the first left at the Esso Station and it's 1/2 km up on the right).... also, 2 for 1 schnitzle on Fridays. For dinner in St. Jacobs I recommend Vidalias and if you're there Sunday morning hit up 3 Bridges (just outside of St. Jacobs) for the best brunch ever.
Of course when in St. Jacobs you're only 10 minutes from the Loo so Purple Room on a Denis Hann Friday night is highly recommended as it hanging with all the cool KWTAs..... except Theresa.... what a bitch;) |

I dunno how far or how long you were wanting to go for, but Cale and I just recently went up to Niagra Falls for a few days...and there was tons of stuff to do. Not all of itwas super expensive either! Lots os scenic stuff.
Also, I like Collingwood...not too far either. There's that water park with the rock slides...calling Jamie...what's it called. And there's those Scenic Caves too there isn't there? Personally I thought those were super cool. |

thanks for all the suggestions so far.. I've been wanting to go to Tobermory for a while so that may be the way to go. It would probably be best to combine it with some camping.. that is if I can still find available spaces on campgrounds there!
The whale watching on St Lawrence sounds awesome too! Maybe combine that with a stopover in Quebec City.. could be nice :) |
LOL so we have way more in common than Ridgewalkers (feat. El) - Find!!!!! :)
I did both of those trips with Jenny and I can't tell you how romantic and awesome they were!!! If you're doing camping I guess that's cool...personally, I'm not much of a "rougher" so I booked a few months in advance for a B&B...maybe you can find one if it's not too late. If you need some links I'll try to dig up my old Excel spreadsheet list.
For Quebec City, we drove there first (after Old Montreal--this was before Jenny moved there) and then drove to Chicoutimi and Gaspe for the whale watching. ABSOLUMENT MAGNIFIQUE!!!! :eyes:
In QC, a nice night-time walk along "Le Petit Champlain", a little road that goes down a hill, with all these charming restaruants on either side was really romantic... *sighs* |

I'm currently on my tail-end of my road trip. Went through NY, NH, ME, NB, and now I'm in Montreal (leeching someone's wifi).
It's time to take advantage of our stronger CDN dollar.
For a long weekend, there's plenty of national parks to camp in in the US, where gas is around .90 a litre right now, and our Canadian bucks go a long way right now. I camped at a national park next Mount Washington, NH, for $18USD, where I drove my miata all the way to the top. great experience. |
