I saw a forecast for 103(!) degrees on Wednesday, on NY1
On weather.com, I see the heat index reaching 113 degrees.
Nothing like how it is in Arizona, but still hot enough for me.
Seems like a good day to work late, or at least stay in the office, with its AC (which is always too cold during the summer)

What are you all planning to do, to beat the heat?

Be safe, everyone.

Be sure to drink plenty of fluids and spend as little time in the sun as possible. Apply sunblock and try to wear very light clothing, if possible. Also, if you feel tired (due to lack of sleep, work or a combination of both), remember to take it easy.

Im jealous of ur pool...im coming over :p

My ac's were on when I left the house but the building management shuts off the electric line that the AC's are ALL connected to when Con Ed informs them to save power which is usually on the HOTTEST days between the hours of 12-6. (AC's are pre installed in our walls in all rooms and are property of the building)

Ice skating anyone?
Probably not for me today, but I saw a segment on NY1 about the ice rinks at Chelsea Piers, the only such place in the 5 boroughs that is open for ice skating during the summer.

I wonder what the chances are of another big blackout, like in 2003

I got in a little late to work at 10 this morning, only to find out that the office is closing down at noon due to heat :wtf: . The AC system here has been faulty. We still get paid for the day though, weeee!

Lucky you :D

We have had brown out's at my job before and eventhough we need computers to do pretty much all of our work they made us stay here to see if the power would be turned back on :( That happened last year.

Blackout was due to poor planning of the NE power grid. Not to mention that space weather and the earths magnetic field.
