| One of the amazing things I love about trance is that its so powerful and emotional that it can produce a physical response when you hear an incredible track. You all know what Im talkin about when you get those full body chills after an incredible buildup. I was just curious as to whether you think that fans of other types of music (rock, rap, country, etc) get the same responses. For some reason it seems like people who really love trance are much more passionate about their appreciation of music in general than those people I know who listen to other types of music. Like for example, Ive never heard my friends who are into classic rock or R&B ever tell me that they get chills from a song theyve just heard. The music is just there, and they like it, but they dont seem ADDICTED to it! I dunno, it just seems that trance is kind of captivating in that way. Its like it grabs a hold of ya! :p |

| Yeah. I agree. It may be something to do with the fact that trance melodies are emotive where-as other genres of music use words to be emotive rather than melodies? Also you should get it when you hear it in a club because a club is naturally set-up to overload your senses with the smell of the smoke, the lighting, obviously you hear and feel the sound because it's so loud. All these together probably add to the emotion of a song and give that effect. |

I agree.
The body is subjective to all kinds of stimuli, but with music, such as Trance, which is all about emotion within the melodies, itsa cool thing to experience. When i first used to listen to Trance, i had these feelings all the time, but now im older iits different...
WEIRD!!! I WANT THESE EMOTIONS BACK AHHHHHHHHHH |

I agree with you on what u said abut the feelings...
One more thing: When I'm very mad at something or someone, I just start listening to trance loud, and I forget everything...Nothing else can calm me down like that ! |

agree partially... I've got the feeling to, but not with every track or so... (thoug 99% makes me happy :) )
for example, I was listening to this set of paul van dijk @ club eau, and II0 - rapture passes by...men!!! my body was tinkeling all the way!!! never had that before to that track, but it was just the combination of tracks and the buildup....sweeeeeet.
BUT, the same thing can happen to me when I am at a hardcore party (by hardcore I DO NOT MEAN GABBER!!! there is hardcore in every genre..... well... almost every genre... not in r& b :p . this was the more rock/screaming thing... but I knew the song during the performance and everybody else did too and that was soooooooooooooooo BRUTAL as well!!!
life is sweet 2 me from time to time ... :) |

If ya want the (kinda) logical explanation...
My theory is that black music (Techno, House) focuses on low sounds, bass, pecussions etc.
White music (Trance) focuses on high sounds- Electro synths, violins, sparkly sounds etc.
Now thinking about it- Bass and percussions are "Warm", I can't really explain it but I think you agree with me...
And violins, synths and all the rest of typical Trance sounds are "Cold" sounds...
Which is why when you listen to House or Techno you'll feel deep inside you plenty of warmth (If you like that genre) and listening to Trance will make you feel cold- IE getting a chill...
Techno and House are all about repetivnes that causes you to loose focus and get crazy.
Trance is all about staying in focus while dancing, because on it's own it has more of a story in each track and the breaks.
I think each and every Trancer gets it from some tracks, maybe less as you get older but you will definitely find it at every age! |
