anyone ever make an electrical instrument?

you guys know, an instrument with electricity, wires, circuits and the like... (nothing digital)

there are a couple of books out there (manuals really) and i'm wondering if any of you guys have ever made one and actually recorded one.

Saw them live at jazz fest last year........they are GOOD at it!

I did a bit of playing, sounded like crap, but I had a little buzzer going, had a variable resistor on it that controlled a little RC filter, wired it up to a head phone cable that I cut open. It ran on some D cell batteries, I made it with radioshack pieces on one of those little breadboard panels, sounded realy cheap.

I wana build a MOTM

all it takes in an idea and a little knowledge or how electricty and magnetics works.... and bam, you got signal generation
