A mate sent it to me, but I think the actual link for it was on the global underground forum.

i have nothing against american but i have to say i think a lot of them are loud not that arrogant but they seem to be like proud when they walk or something and u can easily see if a person is american in the street because they tend to talk louder than here at least

but funny thing is i remenber once i went to an american bbq in new york's suburb it was the birthday of a teen and i was with the mom of my friend and my friend so i was a bit anxious because i didn't know anyone and all so i was reserved speaking a little trying to be as polite as possible and stuffs...turnt out the mom of my friend said to everyone i was french so then some ladies came and asked me

so i heard you are french?

me :yes i am

her and the ladies "OMG but you are soooo nice and so polite omg and you are french !"

:stongue: i was like :conf: what did she expect ?that i would behave like a monkey off from the jungle?

:stongue:

when i was in Greece, people thought i was English, not American.

one guy asked my mom and i "are you English?" and i thought at first that he meant "do you speak English?" so i said "yeah!" and my mom laughed and said "no, we're American"

i was actually embarassed to be travelling with most of the people in my tour group because they were your typical loud-mouthed self-centered ignorant touristy Americans.

we have this (not strong, but existant) stereotype that french are huge snobs. always existed, but strengthed when france didnt run to the arms closet with us following 9/11.

of course if youve got millions and millions of people, some are bound to be ignorant.

To be honest with you I love stereotypes of different nationalities it gives everyone a chance to have a bit of banter. I work at a company with people from loads of countries I've had some great laughs. In the world cup I ripped down my bosses Spainish flag and wiped my feet on it, she went ape! But the French in the office found it hilarious, in return when they lost the final I changed all their screensavers to the Italian flag.

We used to have a load of Australians too, one of them worked in my team and I put him through hell, he got me back a few times, but I used to rip the Aussies all the time in work or out of work.

There's even have a Pakistani manager in the office and you can make comments to him when he comes in wearing a coat or a bag there better not be a bomb in there, or things like cut that beard, he gives us loads of abuse back too and it's all in good humour.

People are too sensitive these days if you ask me, if you know them and you don't push it too far you can have a right laugh.

I think the funniest thing is that I can spot out american tourists here too, and i feckin live in the country.

Whats better is the european ones. They are always lost and always asking where something lame is, hehe, I think they ask me cause they think im european. These two guys from england (a part where their dialect deviates a bit too much from proper english) were asking me questions, and all I could say was yea here man, beer ya.
