Old school live to air download thread starting with one from CFNY back in 1993

I have started to transfer all the classic toronto live to airs that i recorded throughout the 90s from Cassette (when commercial radio was actually worth listening to)
I have the first one here. Its recorded from both DJ MATT C live to air at Phoenix on CFNY and Chris Sheppard live to air from the Factory (which later became the OZ).
This is all from 1993.
I think aside from the really deep house tracks the coolest part is how they used to turn the mics onto the crowd. Check out the abundance of whistles and cheers every time a good tune came on...
the only downside is that the editing from back then (on my part) was really choppy. Hey i was 17 and didnt know what the hell i was doing ok? LOL

Great Idea Jay. Man i used to be a total radio junkie taping all the overnight radio shows on Global Groove, 1Groove, Grooverince (aka the Show on CHRY Sunday nights), etc.
Had a bloody shoe box full of em. I've been kicking myself for ages for throwing most of them out during a move.:whip: |

This is very intriguing. I had no idea they played this kind of music at The Phoenix in those days.

I have a ton of live to airs from The Edge at The Phoenix/The Kingdom and Whiskey Saigon/Joe/Velvet Underground dating back to 2003 (a good chunk are complete 5-hour shows). Since it's mostly new/old rock this is probably completely off topic. But if anyone is actually interested in any of them, reply here or PM me.

i plugged my .wav recorder into my stereo and recorded in real time. Then transferred it to the puter :)
Anyways way more to come if you guys are interested. Lots of classic chris sheppard from back in 1992 when he was all about the UK breakbeat and techno tunes. ( before pirate radio sessions ruined him with euro LOL)
I miss the days when i used to look forward to a radio programme. Thats partly why im doing my own show now. Hopefully it will be something people look forward to and plan to listen to much like how i was with these live to airs back in the early 90s. |

actually Pirate Radio Session Volume 1 wasn't all that back .. had a lotta old school classics featured in that live recording u posted. but i'd agree that his older stuff was a lot better when it was around..
lol.. remember when Guv was once RPM
