Why not take the Downloads thread out of the Local forum and create a new section for it ? The section can be systematically split according to genre/artist and year. It would be even better if the sets come with a tracklist and a cue file ;) Ofcourse that's a lot of work, but I bet it'll generate more interest in the website. A mod can be put in charge to keep the section clean of commercial stuff. Right now, the thread is a big chaos and browsing it is a pain.
As it is, the sets are available for download to anyone who cares to do a little bit of looking around. I don't see any reason for bundling so much information into one huge thread and letting the user browse through it. We have the live sets section but it's rarely updated. I don't see any point of keeping it if we already have this thread.
Edit : The section can be restricted to registered users with a specified number of posts. This will prevent guests from flooding the website just to download the sets. |
