Junior Boys

R.E.M.G. presents the return of the Junior Boys, live at the El Mocambo.
In 1995, Jeremy Greenspan and Johnny Dark had been working on mainstream pop music but turned their attention to two-step, a new genre originating out of the UK and combined it with arty synth pop, minimal techno, U.K. garage and contemporary hip-hop. This career launching move created The Junior Boys. They made a demo with no positive results, but by October 2003 the Junior Boys were ready to release their first album Last Exit under the record label, Kin. Although founding member Johnny Dark had parted ways with Jeremy before the creation of Last Exit, the album was completed with help from long-time friend and engineer Matt Didemus. The album was an underground success.
Even though two-step has long since exited the mainstream, the Junior Boys still provide an original and creative sound that has become a rarity in the current age of corporate hip hop and indie rock mainstream. Their latest release So This is Goodbye brings in a new age of dance oriented music with tracks such as “Count Souvenirs” and “Like a Child” that provide high energy that has not been seen in music since the days of big band jazz. For this album, (due out August 2006) the Junior Boys have chosen to sign with Domino Records.
The Junior Boys have recently been trying to provide listeners with the chance to hear their music through new mediums other than conventional radio or CD’s. With the success of acts like The Arctic Monkeys and Gnarls Barkley, they have decided to release many of their latest recordings over the internet on their MySpace page.
On Saturday August 26th come hear the Junior Boys live in concert at the El Mocambo.
