Its been a while since I last did a mix so put something together this week. Its something a little bit different than normal, inspired mostly by the stuff I heard at Global last weekend. I realised, whilst most of the tunes people played were good, very good infact, Im getting very bored with the anthem after anthem style of nearly every trance DJ I saw and wanted to try and do a mix that didnt consist entirely of "trance" tracks but could still be considered a "trancey" mix.

The result is something that maybe is a bit random in places, but I think it all fits together quite nicely. Have a listen and see what you think, I'm really interested to hear other peoples opinons so please let me know what you think!!!

Absolutely ing spot on... starts off with a kinda early prog trance feel to it (you know, the stuff with a solid beat and a really good groove, where no one was sure if it was house, trance, prog or what... but no one cared either), something that I've been saying for a while really needs to be brought back into trance so awesome to see that on a demo.

But it all stays sounding modern as, lets face it, stuff back then was actually better produced than most of the stuff you get now, then he moves into some awesome techy/electroey stuff, obviously the popular sound at the mo but they're all fresh sounding tracks, not like half of the tech trance that's coming out that all sounds the same haha

Finishing off with some big trance anthems... and the breaks tune in the middle works absolutely beautifully. Everything just fits together perfectly.

The best "trance" mix I've heard this year, which is mainly because it's not a trance mix - it's a mix of ing cool tunes, some of which happen to be trance and others could be classed as trance if you wanted them to be, which all just work beautifully together. It's got the building tracks, the groovers and the OhMyingGod, hands in the air peak-time anthems... trance DJs, take note - this is how it's done.

Very impressed.

I liked the set overall. But the ending was a bit odd. I like some of the tracks played at the end (especially playground), but it just didn't seem to fit. You have this amazing buildup with a dark and tribal vibe, and I would've loved to hear the same vibe buildup into a climax of a similar theme, but the happy tunes at the end just felt a bit... out of place - almost as if you'd pasted two sets together. Still a good set though!

Cheers man, I know what you mean about the ending. When i was putting it together the first 40 odd minutes seemed to come together really easily, and then it took me aaaages to put the last bit together cos nothing was sounding right. I was going to go down the sorta JOOF style route, but it sounded even more out of place.

Like I said though, this was a bit of an experiment on my part, so I appreciate the feedback so the next one I can get it right!

Stu: If you think flattery will get you nowhere :p no seriously, cheers dude :D
