London - Questions

Hello!

My girlfriend and I are visiting London next week. (14th - 19th August)

I got a few questions:

1. What´s up in London during our vacation? Any big DJ´s playling somewhere? Are there any good "Trance-Techno-Clubs"?

2. Can anybody give me the names of good record-stores? I´m looking for record-stores with a lot of "trance-music". It would be nice if you could give me the adresses or the subway-station...

THX in advance

Pete

The Gallery @ Turnmills.

On the 18th it's Markus Schulz, Sister Bliss & Andy Moor - Not exactly a lineup that makes me jump up in the air.

The London TA's will be better clued up to help you.

It's a pity in fact because if you were about around a week odd later on the 26th there is the South West Four festival not a too bad lineup Digweed, Carl Cox, Kleinenberg, Zabiela, Paul Oakenfold etc in the main arena, then the Gallery one's got Mauro Picotto, Sander Van Doorn etc.

Hey mate - to answer your questions:

1. You should find plenty of stuff going on while you're here, especially on Friday 18th. As I don't know what your musical tastes are, I'd recommend you check HarderFaster for up-to-date listings and information: it's the UK's biggest dance music and clubbing website and is quite London-focused. From a quick glance at their listings, I noticed Marcus Schultz, Sister Bliss and Andy Moor are all playing at The Gallery @ Turnmills on the 18th, for example.

2. Unfortunately, good record shops for trance are few and far between in London these days as many have closed down. There are two I'd recommend though and fortunately they're within walking distance of one another. Check Mad Records and Kinetec Records - both sell a decent amount of trance and are within about 5/10 minutes walk from Oxford Circus tube station.

Hope this helps and enjoy your stay in London. :)

First of all: Thanks for the fast answers.

Can somebody tell me the exact location of "The Gallery"? Is it useful to get the tickets before the event or can i get the tickets on the evening?

It´s sad that many of London´s record shops closed. Very sad. But thanks for the hints.

The Gallery is near Farringdon tube station, and you can buy tickets on the door.

the gallery is simply the name of friday nights at turnmills: turnmills.co.uk

tickets are usually available via ticketweb, but presales for this event are sold out. more are available on the door priced £20. since you're visiting, you may want to try contacting turnmills via email. the staff's been quite helpful to me when i fly in...
