I didn't see a thread yet for tennis but I am watching James Blake play Besserer from Vancouver right now. Won't be able to go to Toronto this weekend for the semis/finals where I would have hoped to see Federer. :)
Women's tournament starts next weekend... anyone going to either of them? I have tix for 3 days including the final. Can't wait! 40 of the top 43 women are playing this time... including my favourite - Martina Hingis!

Yeah, Safin is definitely a wild card in all the tourneys.
I don't like Blake too much - I don't sympathasize with his sob story.
Hingis is a fun player to watch play - she's one of the last players in tennis who are not all about power and speed. Her accuracy is amazing. |

Wow...I was like in grade eight when that match came on!!!
I love Seles b/c of her grunting :p...Honestly, she was good too :)
The reason Hingis dominated the game back then was b/c of her accuracy and her strong game on grass. But I guess nowadays, you kind of need the power and speed to dominate the game as well. Oh well, Hingis is my sentimental fav. for the cup...I hope she can show what she's got against those youngins :D |

to bad the women are in Montreal. For some reason, its not the same watching guys play tennis live haha.
Don't get me wrong, the guys can play some awesome ball, but there's something that makes the women more enojoyable to watch...
I didn't even know the Mens' started already!
Last year I worked downtown, and they were promoting this thing everywhere! I remember they have a celebrity game in a makeshift tennis court by the TD Centre w/ several people (All I remember was Jason Allison (Leafs) and Everett playing (I think HIngis played as well)). But it was awesome. |

It was Allison/Evert vs. Seles/Sittler last year.
I bought tix for the men's final this year. After watching last night, the courts are playing really slow, so it looks good for Nadal to upset The Fed Express... |

Who is going to this this year. Wimbledon starting has reminded me that i need to look at buying my tickets soon *yay* ;)

Any other TAs gonna check out the women at the Rexall Centre this year?
Prolly going on a Mon, Tues or Wed when the seats are still cheaper and you still have most all (if not all) courts open. So there's never a dull moment.
You have no idea what a fun way to spend a day this is! Seriously. Getting ing smashed at a little bar in the open sun... UBER good times!
Tennis is just like hockey... great to watch hammered... but you can do it in the sun and open air too :D
